**Restaurant Review: Mio Vicino** Rating: ★★★★★ On September 11, 2024, while on a business trip to Santa Clara, I took a customer’s recommendation to try Mio Vicino. Tucked away in a strip mall, this little gem was rather unassuming but packed with delightful surprises. I decided to start with the Gorgonzola Gnocchi and a Caesar Salad. The gnocchi was fabulous! Served piping hot, it was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of al dente bite. The creamy sauce was rich yet not overwhelming, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully. The addition of walnuts added a special kick, enhancing the dish's overall profile. The portion size was perfect—not too large, leaving me satisfied but not overly full. The Caesar salad was decent, with the dressing evenly tossed throughout, though it didn’t stand out as much as the gnocchi. Notably, I found it curious that the waitress did not offer any bread, which is often a staple at Italian restaurants. For dessert, I couldn't resist the cannoli paired with coffee. It was enjoyable, landing around a solid 4 out of 5, but the stellar gnocchi clinched this review for Mio Vicino. Despite a marginal service experience with my waitress, the attentiveness of the other staff in refilling my tea was commendable. Overall, Mio Vicino exceeded my expectations, and I left feeling delighted. Despite minor service hiccups, their culinary prowess, especially with the gnocchi, earned them a well-deserved 5 stars!

I loved the atmosphere. All the characters you would imagine were present. The big family sitting at the corner table laughing and celebrating the little girls birthday, which my husband and I found ourselves joining in on the birthday song aand clapping when the time came. The friends of the hostess that giggled and shared stories everytime she checked in on them and of course the older couple that probably come in every week that all the staff members acknowledged at one time or another .. Simply heart warming. This come as you are place definitely lands itself in this girl's top five places to eat. The food is amazingly delicious. From the roasted garlic, an fresh bread to the Chocolate mousse for dessert.Mouth watering goodness. I had the chicken tortellini and my husband the lasagna, we shared the cheesy garlic bread. Each bite melting in our our mouths. Soo good! Our waitress was the best but, each staff member checked on us each time they passed our table. We loved this place.

Parking: Parking lot behind the building with mostly ample parking but can get full pretty quickly since it's shared with other restaurants in the plaza Staff and Venue: Very cozy mom and pop shop feel. Staff are very friendly and attentive. The place can get pretty busy and the area is a little small so there can easily be a wait for a table due to filling up pretty quickly. I waited about 20 min for a table for two on a Friday night at around 6pm. Food: I had the linguine with clams and a creme brulee for dessert. The pasta comes in a light white wine sauce with fresh tomatoes and fennel. There was a bit too much chopped fennel for my taste so I had to leave some on the side but the sauce was pretty light and went well with the clams and the pasta was perfectly al dente. The creme brulee was a little burnt on one side of the sugar top but the overall taste was very light. Will I go back? I definitely would like to go back to try some of their other pastas and fried calamari.

We have been to Mio Vicino about four times for dinner, twice on a Saturday and twice on a Friday. We try to arrive within the first hour of opening the restaurant. It's been hit or miss in this place. The food is very good and reasonably priced. However, if they have too many customers, the wait time for food may be a bit and if you need anything else from your server, it may be a challenge to get him/her back to your table. On our last visit we had a poor attitude from one of the servers because we asked for fresh pepper or more bread. Unfortunately our server was waiting on tables on the other side of the restaurant. If you can beat the crowds, it's a great "hole in the wall." We have tried their desserts and ice cream and coffee after dinner. Their bread with garlic is wonderful.

The server is very attentive. Upon entering the restaurant, the bread and garlic are prepared. To begin with, I ordered fried eggplant. It was very tasty. The eggplant was not too soft but also not too hard. The portion was also very generous. As for the main dish, I ordered the clam linguine. I was surprised by how it was cooked. In addition to the white wine sauce, they also used leaks, which gave another level of freshness to the dish. The white wine sauce also greatly enhanced the umami of the clams. For dessert I asked for the recommendation and went for the creme brulee. The skin was extremely crispy but the inside was very fluffy. It's very enjoyable to have both sensations in one bite. I'm very satisfied. Next time I should try out their daily specials.

Mio Vicino is the best Italian restaurant I've been to in the south bay. I've been driving to SF, but this is my new favorite. My server was fantastic. He was so attentive. The food was incredible. The batter on the calamari was indescribably light and crispy. The dressing on the Caesar salad had just the right bite of anchovies. My friend and I shared the three kinds of ravioli -the meat sauce was so good - and the pasta primavera - the vegetables were cooked perfectly and the sauce was creamy and garlicky. Best of all though was the fresh, warm ciabatta bread served with whole roasted garlic cloves and balsamic vinegar and oil. I'm already plotting another visit here. So delicious!
