I live a close distance from the place. If by means, close, I can walk here within 20 minutes, driving 2 minutes or bike 10 minutes. Whenever my sister and I seem lazy to cook or drive to my parents place for Filipino food, we come here for their delicious entrees. Most of the choices off the menu are great! I usually order any of the following:
Lechon Kawali Grilled Pork chops (comes with achara...pickled carrots and radish) Sisig (fried pork belly with diced onions and peppers) Daing na Bangus (milkfish marinated in vinegar and garlic) Laing (taro leaves cooked in coconut milk with minced garlic and peppers)
Typically, I would've ordered the filipino style breakfast plates, but I prefer something outside of the usual. All that I've mentioned above is delicious! It doesn't come close to my grandma's homecooked meals but I wouldn't pass any of those up especially if you have it with a side of Java rice instead of steamed white rice. The java rice is a different taste to adobo styled rice or garlic fried rice because of its seasoned flavor. I know that Filipino food is rich in flavor but if you have a palate for fat and grease, you've gone to the right place. There isn't much vegetarian entrees but if you stick to Laing or Pinakbet, those are your better choices. All of the food comes in large portions, so it's great to share among others if you come in a big group.
I highly suggest to try Dinuguan, which is pork blood stew. One of my favorite dishes that not many Filipino restaurants offer. The stew is cooked in savory stew of offal (typically lungs, kidneys, intestines, ears, heart and snout) simmered in a rich, spicy dark gravy of pig blood, garlic, chili and vinegar. So, if you happen to come here by chance, I'm telling you to try it if you're on the adventurous side! Sounds too extreme for you, then perhaps a plate of pancit bihon or tocino is a safer choice.
They offer catering if you call or drop by in advance. There's no buffet or turo-turo style options, but come check it out if you're in the mood for Filipino food on the inexpensive side. Save a bang for your buck for large portions and good food with a family or...
Read more2 days ago, I had a major craving for Filipino food. I was heading out to Sunnyvale and wanted to find a restaurant nearby. Toppings Tree was only 18 minutes away. I had to call, to find out which suite # they were in, but the lady who answered the phone didn't speak much English. But I found #150 after another minute. The young girl working there was unenthusiastic and blank. I asked for a menu and was happy to see it in Filipino & English. I saw the Pancit Bebon and knew that needed to be in my tummy, (noodles, cabbage, carrots, chicken and Chinese sausage). Then I saw Lechon Kwali, (cubed Pork Belly), which I was about to order, until I saw the Crispy Pata. I asked the girl, of the 2, which she would have; so I ended up ordering the Pata/Pork Knuckle. I sat down and waited in the little seating area up front. The food was slow coming out, considering there weren't many people there and most had their food. When my name was called, I was handed two containers, weighing roughly 3 lbs! I couldn't wait to get home and dive in.The first container was filled to the brim with yummy, steaming hot Pancit. Tons of noodles, veggies and chicken. It could have had more sausage, but it was seriously answering my craving. The Crispy Pata was huge, the skin was super crunchy and flavorful. There wasn't much meat, but it was tender and tasted great. Next time, I am ordering the Lechon Kwali. The Pata was mostly skin and bones. There were quite a few items on the menu, a small refrigerator upfront with a small selection of drinks, and a large dining area. I will definitely go back and try other things. So, stop reading and GO...
Read moreI was referred to this restaurant by a Filipino friend of mine after we had a conversation about my love of lumpia, adobo and other traditional Filipino dishes. My family and I planned a road trip up from Los Angeles and made this one of our top destinations. You will not be disappointed whether you like Filipino food or not! There are so many amazing flavors going around, your taste buds are surprised over and over again with new and exciting flavor combinations. We tried 9 dishes and I highly recommend the pork adobo , the beef tapa , the breaded pork and the Honey cured pork with the Java rice. Ube(Purple sweet potato) House made ice cream is a must-try. The owners are extremely hospitable so please take the time to introduce yourself. Great service, delicious food and an amazing front and back of house staff working to please. The price point is perfect for a casual family...
