Let’s take a walk down memory lane to Cafe Rio circa 2009. The food was a completely different take on Mexican food than the world had ever seen, the flavor was akin to Coke-marinated pork, and the fluorescent lighting of the mom and pop shops next door to it were officially ditched for a unique experience inside. Lamy’s is none of those things. Lamy’s gives you food portions as if the owners turned a blind eye to “smaller portions higher prices” that so many other restaurants have turned to. They also offer Birria like every other Mexican restaurant that opened up within the last two years, but here’s the kicker: it tastes really good considering they don’t offer a broth to go with it (please consider introducing a dipping broth). Finally, the service is quick. I’ve sat in 30 min lines at Alfredo’s off Bluff St all so that I could be disappointed by a burrito that looked as if a cockroach had side eyed it and passed it up whilst on its way to the next street taco. The service’s speediness is something to behold for the quantity of food I ordered. I was in/out in about 5 minutes. I would overall recommend this local restaurant to locals and visitors, and I can’t say that about many places in the St. George area. Santa Clara has a gem of a place on its hands here. Food: 4/5 (I’ll say louder for the people in the ba k, Birria broth please) Service: 4/5 Atmosphere: 3/5 from the outside looking...
Read moreThe food here is lovely. But sadly the people who work here are disgustingly ignorant. The MOST racist place in all of st.george so I wouldn’t recommend it if you aren’t Hispanic. Also if you happen to be deathly allergic of anything might as well just keep it to yourself bc they are gonna throw 2-3 toddler fits about the fact you didn’t want to go into anaphylactic shock during lunch. I have to have them remake my food at least once every time I’ve come here in the last 2 years because they always try to put the ONE singular thing I’m allergic to on it even tho I start by asking them to leave it off. And then when I say I wanted it without that they say “are you serious” and throw the whole plate of food away all pissy before walking away and not saying or even acknowledging I exist for several minutes before coming back to act like nothing happened and make my food. They also only say things like “hello, welcome in” or even talk to costumer appropriately if they are Hispanic and if they are not they completely ignore them only talking to them if they have to (ie.when asking or talking about...
Read moreI'm always on the lookout for great Mexican food, and hadn't really found a spot I loved yet in the St George area...until Lamy's!
I ordered a sweet pork enchilada meal (pictured) to go, along with two quesadillas (carne asada, and cheese). The sweet pork was soooo good - the perfect amount of sweetness and spice, and large enough portions to make 2 meals.
Each meal had the choice of 4 kinds of beans (black beans, pinto beans, refried beans, and I think the last choice was lima beans), and for rice, I could choose Spanish rice or white. I tried the refried beans (very good!) and pinto beans (they were different, but good - almost had a BBQ taste). I couldn't get any of the black beans before my kids ate them.
The service was super fast around 2pm (I called in, and it was ready in less than 10 minutes), and they even have a drive through for ordering or picking up.
Everything was so fresh - they offer multiple topping options (pico, guac, lettuce, sour cream), and I'm definitely coming back. Prices are great, too!
