We are huge fans of Culvers and it is one of our favorite places to go for a burger anywhere we go in Utah. But our experience on Friday was absolutely horrible. We know that Culvers takes a little longer than the average fast-food restaurant, but the wait is usually worth it. On Friday we were told that they were out of buns when we placed our order at the drive through. They have other bread options, so we weren't that bothered and decided to place an order anyway, especially since we had already been waiting for 10 minutes to order anyway. We were able to quickly get our drinks then we waited in the parking lot for 30 minutes before someone finally came out to tell us that their buns had just arrived, and they wanted to confirm if we wanted regular buns or not. We said “sure, but how much longer do we have to wait?” We were now late going to see our son's band performance and really needed to go. We were told it would be another 3-5 minutes tops.
Well, another 30 minutes went by with us going inside every 10 minutes to see what was taking so long. We probably should have just left. Finally, one hour after placing our order, we got our food. We raced off and sadly, we missed the performance. I wish they would have just told us honestly what the wait would be like at any one of the points we talked to them about it. Just once, they could have said, sorry, its going to be more than ten minutes and we would have asked for a refund and left.
When we opened up our order, we found that several things were missing and a few other odd issues as well. One of the meals I ordered for my daughter was completely missing, so I gave her my burger only to have her discover that there was no bottom on the bun (strange...). My wife ordered cheese curds and they were completely cold and gross. The fries my other kids ordered were cold and stale too. Then instead of the fry sauce that we ordered, we had 10 packets of their ranch dressing. We really like most of their food, but man, their ranch dressing is disgusting. I know it is a personal preference, but I have never spoken with anyone who likes it.
I see that this location has plenty of positive reviews, I could not imagine what was going on during our last visit is happening often. But it was one of the worst fast-food experiences I have ever had. There were several other people who were even more frustrated than we were, and they were showing it much more vocally than we were. While it was a busy Friday night, I wouldn't say that it was even close to as busy as the Culvers we frequent in Layton is pretty much every night...
Read moreGave me extremely bad food poisoning. I ordered a double cheeseburger and a few hours after eating it I threw up like 40 times and drank like 20 cups of water to clean me out because of the insane heartburn I was having. My vomit smelled and looked like engine lubricant and turned the toilet bowl water straight up a dark brown. Whatever you are cooking those burgers with is like engine oil. I lost feeling in my hands and feet and experienced a scary amount of tingling especially in my feet. It felt like my feet had fallen asleep times 10. Will never be eating this poison ever again. My body rejected everything about it. An I eat fast food all the time and have no issues. I've had Culver's at different locations a few times but never felt this sick. I could literally see the seed oils in my puke. Clean that damn grill and fryer! If my immune system wasn't good and I hadn't of thrown up most of it I'd probably be in the hospital cause no way in hell could my body have digested that properly. This country needs to ban seed oils. It's basically engine lubricant and Culver's I guess is no different cause that stuff I was throwing up looked and smelled like spoiled engine lubricant. I would've taken pictures of what I was throwing up but it honestly looked so disgusting like brown mop water with stringy pieces of weird dark brown stuff. I don't even care about a refund. Clean your damn fryer properly and your grill. Cause no way in hell should I have been able to see literal separated oil in...
Read moreWe are from Minnesota, so we have eaten at many Culvers (based in Wisconsin), and had many, many cheese curds. But this new St George place is not ready for prime time - very slow service. Cole slaw was good. French fries were good. That is all. Spicy Chicken sandwich had overcooked, dry, hard brown batter with no mayo or any sauce on the sandwich. Terrible. Cod pieces had incredibly greasy batter which I had to peel off. Terrible. And the cheese curds were the worst cheese curds I have ever eaten and I've eaten lots of cheese curds. The heavy outside batter to cheese ratio was 4 parts batter/1 part cheese - you could hardly see or taste the cheese inside. If I ever come back will try the burgers, but I won't be back for a long time. Culvers reached out to me about what could they do better. Go 1 block to the DQ and see that their cheese curds are golden (not dark brown) and 4x bigger with melted cheese oozing out. Then make your cheese...
