The Food I stumbled upon Simbongsa with my wife during our food exploration. Simbongsa is a Korean Croquette & Donut Shop. We got a chance to try their Quabegi (Twist Donut), along with their Spicy Pork Cheddar and Crab Meat Korokke. Both the Quabegi and Korokke are crispy when we got them. The Quabegi have a soft inside to contrast the outside. The Spicy Pork and Cheddar and Crab Meat Korokke were also very good, with a good filling to shell ratio. They also have another selection on the menu that's coming soon, so they might still be in a soft opening. I will have to return once they have their full menu.
The Miscellaneous This Simbongsa, interestingly enough, is not a restaurant, it is more of a take out location. It is located inside of the Elite Event Center. After entering the building, towards the back, you can find the take out location. During the time of this writing, they have the Quabegi and various flavors of Korokke. Minimum order of 3; either savory or sweet (no mix n match). They offer other combos, too, like 3 savory and 6 sweet, etc. They change their special flavors out each week but have some staples always on the menu. We got:
Mozzarella: CHEESE PULL FTW--so generous with the filling. The outside has a nice, crispy crunch, and the inner bread is so light and chewy. Loved this with the honey mustard and spicy mayo sauces.
Spicy pork with cheddar cheese: Too spicy for me but hubs loved it. Very flavorful and, again, stuffed with delicious filling.
Red bean: Love the level of sweetness in their red bean filling. I could eat two more of these right now... wish I got more.
Ordered in person and it took about 5~ min to prepare. Can't wait to try their...

The donut twists are likewise always made fresh. Everything is made with glutinous rice flour, so the dough is really springy and chewy. The texture is like a mochi donut, but even better and more pillowy, if you can believe it. The glazed donuts were a tad sweet for us, but the texture is awesome.
The actual store location is confusingly INSIDE the convention center building with a small...
