Ordered this place for delivery a few months ago and it was amazing, as the name implies. Decided today to go to the actual location to sit down and eat. Google has pictures of tables and people eating there and everything.
Turns out, this place is a ghost kitchen run out of a banquet hall kitchen with two other restaurants. A little weird, but we could at least order in person still. Except they said the chef wanted to leave and they weren't taking new orders an hour before their Google maps listing says they close.
Sooooo yeah. Food was great, but unclear advertisement as a ghost kitchen.
EDIT - Since I cannot seem to reply to the owner, I'll address some claims here.
You do not advertise on the website I was led to that you are a Ghost Kitchen. Your "About Us" section says verbatim:
"Our Brand Amazing Katsu is dedicated to delivering exceptional meals where bold flavors and quality ingredients come together, offering our customers an unforgettable dining experience at an incredible value.
Our commitment to delivering happiness and satisfaction to our customers inspires us to continuously elevate and improve every day."
I see nothing here stating you are a ghost kitchen. I had to find an article from the a Palo Alto news site to see where you were listed as one. My wife pointed out your YELP page lists you as take out only, but Google doesn't. Sorry I didn't see this, I don't use Yelp as frequently since I know they mistreat small restaurants.
I get that a high volume of orders can cause you to close early, but you may want to communicate that to the front of house staff a little bit better as when we arrived at 7:05 and were looking at the menu, the phrase "he wants to go home soon" was said as we walked up and then we're told about the high order volume. That's fine, but again the communication was poor.
Not sure about the "today isn't a joyous day for everyone" line. My wife and I were looking for a spot to eat and celebrating Valentine's on Sunday. Hopefully that's just a miscommunication and you're not taking...

If you’re a fan of Japanese katsu, look no further than Amazing Katsu. This delivery and pick-up only spot has quickly become my go-to place for mouthwatering katsu in the Bay Area.
I recently tried their Cheese Katsu, Pork Loin Katsu, and Spam Katsu, and each dish exceeded my expectations. The Cheese Katsu was a delightful surprise with its rich, creamy cheese flavor that perfectly complemented the crispy coating. It’s a must-try for cheese lovers!
The Pork Loin Katsu was equally impressive. Tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, it left me craving more with every bite. This dish was so delicious that I found myself wishing I had ordered a double portion!
And then there’s the Spam Katsu—a unique take on katsu that blew me away. The Spam was incredibly juicy and tender, and the flavors were so bold and satisfying that I couldn’t resist pairing it with more rice. It’s a fantastic choice if you’re looking for something a bit different but equally delicious.
Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with both the quality and portion sizes of the dishes. Each serving was generous and well-prepared, making for a truly satisfying meal.
One thing to note is that Amazing Katsu is somewhat tucked away in a large mall, which can make it a bit tricky to find. Plus, they don’t have seating available, so you’ll need to plan to enjoy your meal elsewhere. However, these minor inconveniences are well worth it for the incredible katsu experience they offer.
I’m definitely planning to try their entire menu, and I highly recommend Amazing Katsu to anyone looking for the best Japanese-style katsu in the Bay Area. Whether you’re picking up or getting it delivered, you’re in...
Read moreI have been eyeing this spot for a long time. After finally trying this, I just had to do a same-day review after trying their katsu.
Katsu is one of my favorite foods. What I look for is simple-- it has to be crunchy with clean breading and the meat has to be tender, juicy and flavorful. The sauce is also important but the katsu has to stand out on its own. I have tried many katsu places in the Japan, USA/Hawaii (Tamafuji anyone?), and the USA so I can be picky about how it tastes.
Amazing Katsu hits it out of the park and is easily among the best katsu in the Bay Area. The katsu here is just what I am looking for when it comes to flavor, tender meat, crispiness, and overall clean taste. I ordered the ebi katsu, tonkatsu, chicken katsu, spam katsu, cheese katsu, potato salad, and miso soup. Everything was delicious, so it is honestly hard to pick a favorite, but the spam katsu and cheese katsu were unexpectedly delicious. The flavors are a mix of Korean and Japanese tastes. The wine salt and wasabi were great touches. I can tell that they put a lot of care into preparing their food and I can sense they use clean oil, fresh ingredients, and carefully choose where they source their meat. For example, the ebi katsu was actually a huge prawn and not just from frozen.
They currently offer take out and delivery, so I recommend eating this as quickly and as fresh as possible, like with any fried food. They do a great job with packaging and slit a hole in the box, so the food does not get too soggy. After a 10 minute drive home after picking up my order, everything was still warm and crispy. I heard they have plans to open a restaurant and I cannot wait...
