Las Originales Mexican Bar and Grill Newhall — Restaurant in Santa Clarita

Tried this place after passing it several times & always wanting to stop 🛑... Trust me I should've kept DRIVING! To say that $14.75 for breakfast, with NO breakfast special is bit pricey is an understatement, but I dutifully ordered the Chorizo con Heuvo breakfast & coffee ☕. They bring me out chips and the neatest lil bean based salsa EVER! THAT was the highlight of the meal as the plate they brought me had refried beans ALMOST as watery as the bean based salsa! The rice (for those of u who LIKE rice with ur breakfast, I don't, but has I ordered double beans I might've floated away) for its part was fluffy & tasty enuf. As for the Chorizo con Heuvo... It was like they took a half a pound of Chorizo & dropped ONE in it! Also my Chorizo Sin Huevo was a bit spicy for MY taste. So, I picked at it, mostly hunting for remnants of scrambled egg. My corn tortillas (that came late) were like little maize roof shingles! Hard & dry as a Nun's... Well, u get the idea 💡 they were less likely to be ingested than used as 🌽 frisbees! The saving grace was the wait staff (friendly & efficient) but (even tho they brought me HUGE mug of coffee ☕ at the start of the meal) they never offered to refill my coffee. My husband and I visited Las Originales Mexican Bar and Grill in Newhall on a Saturday at 8:45 PM, with the restaurant closing at 10 PM. Shortly after we were seated, we noticed the staff began cleaning up and preparing for the next day. Before we even got our food, they had already started sweeping and mopping the floors. As a result, it took forever to get our meal, 45 minutes, to be exact! We didn’t get it until 9:40 PM, even though we saw it sitting on the counter at 9:25 PM. It just sat there for 15 minutes before we had to ask another server if that was our food.

We ordered the fajitas on a skillet, and typically, they arrive sizzling. Ours, however, were lukewarm at best. The only thing sizzling was the smell of Fabuloso!!

They never checked on our drinks to see if we needed refills. The food was awful. We ordered the trio fajitas with shrimp, chicken, and steak, but there were only a couple small pieces of steak. The meat and shrimp were all tough, the food looked unappetizing and tasted even worse!! The only reason we even tried to eat it was because we were starving when we got there, but we didn’t finish it.

I had a great experience at Las Originales Mexican Bar and Grill! The food is absolutely amazing—full of flavor and perfectly seasoned. Their tacos, in particular, are incredible. I genuinely enjoy the dishes here and find myself coming back often.

That being said, the customer service can be hit or miss. While there’s one waitress who truly stands out—super friendly, attentive, and always willing to go above and beyond—some of the other staff leave much to be desired. On one occasion, I sat for about 10 minutes without being greeted or acknowledged, and one server even walked past me multiple times without offering assistance, which felt rude and unprofessional. Thankfully, the exceptional waitress stepped in and made up for the experience with her fantastic service.

The parking situation is decent, though it does get crowded since the restaurant is quite popular. Inside, the atmosphere is great—spacious and welcoming. You wouldn’t realize just how large and inviting it is until you step through the doors. Definitely...
