SAAAAAAANTA FE!!!
Santa Fe STAND UP!!!
And I mean ALL THE WAY UP!!!
I have to let you all know about the newest and shiniest gem of a SUB SHOP… YES… SUB… SHOP!!!
Say it with me slowly… SUB… SHOP… Aka DELI!!!
My eyes lit up like a school girl seeing herself in her prom dress for the first time!!! Eyes all sparkly… if you’ve been there, you know… not saying I’ve ever put on a woman’s dress to know… but YOU ALL KNOW WHAT I MEAN!!! 🤩
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that there was a new sub shop in Santa Fe, TX and they had one of my childhood favorite subs… remember… I’m originally from NJ… I had to get here as soon as I possibly could to see if it was true… and oh am I so glad I did.
GUESS WHAT?!?!
IT IS TRUE!!!
FAT ANDY’S DELI & RESTAURANT!!!
It’s like the heavens heard me, the sky’s opened and dropped this deli down the road from me!!!
You all have no idea how much I truly love a good sub. And I’m not talking about these fast food type sandwiches… I’m talking about a SUB SUB!!!
Trust me, it’s a world of a difference between the two.
You all might be wondering why I took a picture of the sub wrapped in the white paper… well… if you’ve ever been to a LEGIT sub shop… almost 99% of the time, your sub is going to come wrapped in white paper. Don’t ask me why… I didn’t come up with that, but that’s just how it is. It’s like asking why is the sky blue… IT JUST IS!!!
So when my sub was ready and they said David… and I looked up and the sub was in white paper, I said to myself… I better take a picture of this because I’m in for a treat… and I WAS!!!
Guys… gals… OMG!!! The grilled chicken ceasar sub was out of this world amazing!!!
The bread crunchy and on point… just right… when I say this thing was big… it was GINORMOUS!!! I swear it was the size of a new born baby goat. Lol
The chicken was delicately grilled to a crisp… the ceasar dressing was sooooo yummy… I can still taste the zest.
The veggies were thinly sliced… as they should be… this thing was just made right… from top to bottom.
Ohhh… and the chocolate chip cookie bars thing-a-ma-jiggers I had… to die for. I tried one before the sub was ready and they were gone… before the sub was ready.
I sometimes run out of words to describe when I try a good meal but for Fat Andy’s… I’m going to sum it up in one works… STUPENDOUS!!! Simply amazing… Thank Mr. Andy for gifting us with this fine establishment. You will FOR SURE be seeing me around a lot more often.
Guys… before I forget…
They have CHICKEN CUTLETS!!!
Do yall even know what that is?!?!
Ooooooh… just be prepared to have your socks blown off if you’ve never had it.
That will be my next sub, probably tomorrow… who am I kidding?!?! Lol
RUN!!! Don’t walk… run to Fat Andy’s and treat your taste buds to an amazing sub.

Read moreFat Andy's offers an Italian deli in the heart of Santa Fe, TX. Andy sits at the register and greets every customer with kindness. It's not unusual to overhear him as a customer about how their business or career is going, how their mother is recovering from surgery, and how their day is going.
I ordered the half Italian sandwich and it was loaded with meats and all the toppings. It was so much food, I almost didn't finish it. I had the pesto pasta salad had a perfect blend of noodles, bits of deli spicy deli meats, bell pepper, garlic, diced pepperoncinis and more. I ate it all while I waited for my sandwich. My husband got a Philly and it was legit. It had Wiz and ribeye cooked fresh on the grill with caramelized onions. AND no bell peppers. My husband has a thing about his Philly Cheesesteaks and gets really annoyed by any chef that tries to call a sandwich with bell pepper a Philly. Both sandwiches were served on fresh baguettes that were crispy on the outside and soft and chewy inside. The bread is the perfect base for either sandwich.
This is not a fancy place. But that's not the vibe. You can feel comfortable stopping in wearing your boots and work clothes, business casual, or your favorite pair of blue jeans. The vibe is that of an old-school deli where people care about you as a person and a neighbor, the food is good, and the furnishings are unpretentious. This is a local deli, by a local, for the locals. I'll be back again and again.
Sorry I don't have pictures to share. I ate it so fast I didn't think about taking a picture until it...
Read moreHeard a lot of good things and decided to try the Philly Cheesesteak with provolone. I wanted to try the pasta of the day as well but was told that they don't always get to making it, which was disappointing.
I ordered the whole sandwich, which was considerably smaller than what you would get for the same price at similar sandwich joint.
The meat was very finely chopped and while it tasted very fresh, it was dry and unseasoned, lacking in flavor.
At first I thought there were no onions or cheese on the sandwich at all, but realized there were some very finely chopped pieces of onion scattered throughout the meat, but not enough to do anything at all to enhance the flavor of the meat, as well as there was in fact a very thin layer of cheese ever so slightly present and gluing the meat to the bread, but again, it was not detectable to the taste.
This is, sadly, one of the least impressive cheesesteak sandwhiches I've ever had. I am thoroughly disappointed. I still might go back and try a deli sandwich, but I would never...
