Service started out good. The gal that took us to our seats asked for our drink order and brought those out quick and then asked if we were ready to order and let her know we needed a few minutes to look over the menu. Then like 30 seconds later a different person came to ask us if we were ready to order. Let her know that we had already told the other lady that was helping us we needed a few minutes to look over the menu. Finally she came back and my daughter ordered a burger with a side of pancakes and I ordered the breakfast sampler. Food took a little whe to get prepared but we were patient. Finally like 15 minutes later the food got to our table asked for some condiments and we dug in. My food was good I mean ham, bacon, sausage, eggs over hard, pancakes, and hash browns, how can you get that wrong?! Well they did! The hashbrowns were not that great! Hamburger had good flavor. The second gal returns to ask if everything was ok, my daughter asks for water, and I asked if they use frozen hashbrowns. The gal says that they don't but asked if they tasted like they were and I said they tasted not at all that great and she just said "yeahhhh" but doesn't offer to bring me some fresh ones or to discount it off my bill. She brings my daughter her water and then disappears for a while. I then flag down the first gal that was helping us and shout out accross the room to her if I could order some more pancakes since it was all you can eat. She said no problem. 10 minutes later I get my pancakes by a third older lady and she asks if everything is ok. I said everything was except for the hadh browns, and she just says "oh sorry about that" but doesn't offer to bring a new batch or to take it off the bill. I finish my pancakes and I had to steal some of my daughter's water because pancakes well are always dry regardless. Again the service from the three ladies that had helped so far had disappeared. Got tired of waiting for the bill so told my daughter to let's just go. Got to the register no one was there and one of the buss boys flagged someone down and it was the third lady that helped us. Again she asked how everything was and again I mentioned that everything BUT the HASHBROWNS was ok. Still doesn't offer to take them off the bill, and I had to ask for an actual bill. She prints it out and I look it over, pay her, and definitely didn't leave a tip. Not a nice Valentine's dinner with my daughter but then again it was...
Read morefirst time ive been in ihop in santa maria. i usually just go to ither dennys, a cafe or moxie cafe. i was craving some hash browns since theyre my favorite. my daughter who is 8 suggested i hop so i gave in and we went. i ordered t bone /3 eggs and switched the eggs for hash browns. ... first the t bone was not like the picture. it was thin and long and nasty the hash browns were mushy inside and the pancakes seem to be undercooked i barely touched the food,my husband decided hed eat the steak. i normally never ask but i asked if i could get a discount due to the food being to nasty which they did. they gave me a 50% discount on my plate which is fare considering my hubbs ate the steak. the waiter cristin ( i think) was very kind. i sat at table213 check #3445 today. my husband didnt enjoy his food either but he will rarely not eat something no matter how bland it is.... my kids seemed to enjoy the kids menu i wont be coming back here, also dont recommend coming unless you dont...

Let me state there is nothing negative in regards to the food, but the incompetence of staff is beyond comprehension. After a stated 25 minute wait for our group of 7, we waited an hour as groups of 4 and 5 were shuttled past us, not rocket science to put two tables together if they access flow of the floor. After an hour of waiting they placed us directly next to the bathrooms, when I asked if the room with an area of empty tables was available they said they did not have servers available. No more than 7 minutes later they sit a group of 9 in the banquet area I had requested, which did not have servers. Incompetence is the best description of their service. Though I enjoy the food from IHOP I will wait until we are in another town before I attempt going to another IHOP again.
