Everest Indian Restaurant — Restaurant in Santa Rosa

We stopped by Everest on our way to San jose and we're so glad we did. The reviews online were great and that's what made our choice a bit simpler but even the reviews don't do justice to the high quality of food we ended up having. We had the veg and non-veg thali and each item on it was fresh and yummy, the naan was the best we've ever had in the US, it was light and fresh and was easy to chew (I rarely see it in Indian restaurants, especially in the bay area). The portions were generous and both my wife and I ended up cleaning up the whole thali (which doesn't happen often), and after having a heavy meal especially in restaurants the food tends to make one very sluggish but it wasn't the case with everest, I think it just means that a) the food was fresh b) no or very little cooking additives were added to the food. We enjoyed everything we ended up having, the mango lassi was very balanced. To top it all, the overall meal was extremely reasonable (we've paid far more for food that was nowhere close to the quality of food we had at Everest), the gentlemen who was serving us was very courteous and responsive. We can't find a flaw even if we want to. If this restaurant were closer to where we stay, we would definitely frequent it as much as we can, but the distance is far too long for us to visit it often. All in all, a 5 star experience and if anyone wants to have good Indian food in Santa rosa or are travelling further north up, this is a must stop for anyone who enjoys good food. Thank...

UPDATE: 3/7/23 😭😭😭😭 My heart is broken, I don't know what happened. Maybe new owners? The last two times I've been there everything is completely different. No flavor, coloring is off, spice ratio is off...everything. I'm so unbelievably sad. This was my favorite restaurant and food hands down. I cried a little the last time I went in lol no joke, that's how good this place use to be. I really hope they go back to their old love and flavor they use put into the food, cuz this ain't doin' it! 🙏🙏🙏 Please, please, if you see this, Go back to the way you use to cook the food! The new way is not the way, I repeat the new way is not the way!!!! 💔💔💔😭😭😭

I absolutely love this place! So damn tasty! Just discovered the Samosa Chaat, yum. We always get the Butter Chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala 🤤. Try the mixed pickle if you dare, it's strangely delicious. Hands down my favorite Indian restaurant! Honestly, I think this place makes Indian food my favorite...

Similar to the last review.... this place used to be 10 🌟 in my book, but last time we got it everything was completely different. Textures were off, things were watery, flavorless, and not even spicy at all. I was thinking maybe it was a fluke and was going to try my luck again, but after reading the other review I realize it wasn't just a one time off day, and I'm devastated. The food USED TO BE so amazing that I'm probably going to make the extra trip to Petaluma just for the original flavor and pray that they haven't changed as well.
