Just moved to the area of El Cajon was looking for a good donut store Honey Donuts popped up on Google so I decided to try it out. Lady who is working the register was very nice and friendly I ordered my dozen donuts not fancy Donuts but you're simple normal good Donuts, as my children were getting their drinks we walked up to the cash register, there was a little boy there trying to buy a donut "probably the age of 12-13 years old" after school he didn't have the tax for the donut but he had the $1.00. He was refused the donut because of course he didn't have the tax which was about $0.08 because the donut was $0.99. Me being a parent I told the lady at the cash register that I'll pay for the tax , let him have the donut she turned around and asked the gentleman who was also working in the back was it okay if I paid the difference. The gentleman who was working the back I don't know if he is a manager or normal worker came out and pretty much told me that these children are always at the donut store after school begging people for change and this is their Hustle. I told the man come on dude he's a kid I have no problem paying the $0.08 and so you're telling me this child is in here every day doing this? He then turns around to the child and says do you have money the child say yes I have a dollar and on the window it says $0.99 for the donut the gentleman turns around and says but there's tax involved why don't you go ask your friends if they have the change. After the boy politely walked out after he was refused to buy the donut, the man tells me if I don't give them the donut if they don't have the change then they give me an attitude. Then the lady politely at then register tells me my total of my order I tell my children to hand me their drinks I put them on top of the counter I politely turn my back and I walk away without paying for my Donuts and the reason why I did this was because, not once was this child rude to these people, he was a child who was down played by a grown man who had to lecture a grown woman on paying $0.08 for a child to have a donut. If I wanted to pay $0.08 that's my business not this man's business obviously he's not real business person because if them children were at my store everyday and only have a dollar I would not be worried about $0.08 I would gladly take their dollar because they're loyal customers everyday after school. And this is a grown man who gave a child and attitude, should be very ashamed of himself. This is why our world is f* up. Because of people like him no compassion no heart all over $0.08.
Walk away feeling like a proud mother though my children told me that LOL but I really wanted them damn Donuts but there's a reason for everything I guess they really didn't look that...
Read moreI don't come here often or buy donuts often but I have now been to this "Honey Donuts st least 3 times and I've never been disappointed. The first time I came to Honey Donuts was years ago when my wife was craving crueler donuts around dinner time. We were with friends at the time and they drove us all over the county looking for crueler donuts and eventually found them here at Honey Donuts. It was quite a ride and a lot offin to do that because we drove probably 40-50 miles looking. That was the first big plus about this place having donuts that nobody else had at the time. I remember the staff was friendly back then and tonight when I'm here again the staff is just as friendly if not more. They have a very wide large selection of donut's drinks ice cream and other foods even a sitting place inside. This has turned out to be one of my favorite donut places in the whole San Diego County. I'm glad I came back here again tonight 2 days before Christmas 2023. I'm sad because my wife's not with me but I'm happy because I scored on these donuts. To me it's worth driving miles out of my way to come to this place so I hope you do too. Oh by the way the prices are very good plenty of outside parking and disabled access. As lastly this is a small family business so it's so worth...
Read moreI already had breakfast and snuck in to enable my aspiring love handle for a quick donut and chocolate milk. The donut was good, but that’s kinda hard to mess up being a donut shop. I wanted chocolate milk, but all they had was nestle products or some low fat options, neither of which were appealing. I was happy with my donut and was going to go next door to the seven eleven for the latter. That’s when the friendly lady persuaded me to try their hot chocolate milk option to which I was skeptical, but she lured me in by saying “it’s delicious you will love it.” She brought it out and asked me to try it to which I did and asked her if it had milk in it because it tasted like hot water and coco powder. Turns out they use the gas station machines for these drinks, which I abhor and never purchase. I asked if I could just get her low-fat chocolate milk instead since I wanted a milk product and she said sure, but said she would have to charge me for both drinks. So I opted out and purchased the hot water cocoa and donut only. I give Kudos for the up selling business practice, but customer satisfaction should always trump product pushing. I feel in this situation if I wasn’t satisfied with something recommended to me, I should have been allowed to exchange it for...
