I ordered by recommendation here, and the nice gentleman suggested a double cheeseburger, which was really quite large! I got chili cheese tots because I enjoy chili farts the next day! I also asked about something different as a side and he said they had jalapeño cheese balls, and fried mushrooms, and corn nuggets. I was not sure how to choose from so I told him to surprise me with either jalapeño cheese balls, or the mushrooms. All of that plus a large drink gave me a total of $16.10 so not too bad at all.
I took my food home, and despite the trip home and a longer than planned phone call with my mom (love you mom!) my food was still warm and fairly tasty! Would have been wayyyyyyy better hot, but I suck so I had to grade on a curve (but not much)
The tots were very good, and to my surprise he gave me a half order of mushroom and jalapeno cheese balls, which both were pretty dang good for not being hot! (Which was my own fault) Now, finally we come to the burger…. And it did not disappoint! It was too overloaded with toppings like I find places like Whataburger to be, and the flavor was genuine and delicious! It reminded me of the kind of burger I would get as a kid from lot-a-burger, or if anyone remembers burger house off of Edison in Tulsa? That’s what it reminded me of.
All of this makes me peeved, why? It’s called happy burger and I’m elated. I was NOT planning to be THIS happy… now in order to make it the rest of the week I have to skip a few meals or people at work will just assume I’m always in a good mood. I have a reputation and “Happy” Burger is making it difficult to keep that...
Read moreIf you remember the local burger joint, then Happy Burger is for you.
Located on Route 66 and in operation since 1957, it's a great little throwback to the classic burger joint/malt shop/high school hangout. The selection isn't fancy and neither is the menu--laminated paper, all text, no pictures...but a pretty menu isn't why you stop by a classic burger joint, is it? Their burger may not grace the cover of a fancy foodie magazine with flattering lighting and fancy angles...but it's a really good burger. Like Best Burger Award winning, 4.5 stars (and 279 reviews) good. And, for less than the price of a Big Mac combo, you can get an entire Jumbo Burger special...
Dine in seating is limited, but you can sit at the counter and drool...um, watch...as they grill your burger (no, they won't let you flip your own burger...don't ask me how I know). Service is friendly, and if you like malt shop memorabilia, they got you covered.
The jumbo burger special was a good sized burger, but you can add additional patties as well (no limit!) for $1.65 each.
I opted for the tater tots, because well, tater tots (that's about half the order in the picture, because tater tots)...
My only regret is that I did not order a chocolate malt to go with it...
Thanks,...
Read moreThis is nostalgia of my younger days... Pepsi memorable covers the place. The staff is a "10+", friendly, polite, clean and very quick. The place is tiny, I hope it continues on for decades to come! Price wise, you can't beat it, 3 people had jumbo hamburgers, french fries, tater tots, jalapeno poppers, okra plus drinks all under $22.00....No Joke! And yes, we couldn't eat it all👀. Now the food, we all agreed 1-5 it's 3.5 it's better than a lot of fast food burgers joints. You get plenty of letters, onions, pickles, (tomatoes could have been a few more with the burger as big as it was), buns were soft, the jalapeno poppers, not a fan of. The okra, "shut the front door"....I haven't had okra like that since I was a kid and my grandma would cook up some when we visited. It tasted like okra, not breading with little tiny balls in your mouth, aka seed's. Than there's these crazy insane french fries, fresh, most of our fries were 5 inches in length, some longer than our hands, wrist to middle finger and there was actual potatoes in side as it was cut thicker than the stuff at fast food chains. We want to try the coney dog next...
