Ate dinner there last night. We have eaten at Steak & Eggs numerous times, but this was our last trip. I had a steak and a baked potato. Should be a cinch for a "Steak & Egg" place, right? No. First, I never believed until last night there was such a thing as a bad ribeye. Well, whatever meat purveyor they use sold it to them. Full of gristle and fat. The potato I asked for loaded, came that way...loaded. It had EVERYTHING on it. Cheese, bacon, green onion, white onion, green bell peppers, mushrooms...I didn't know if they were making a pizza or a potato, but it was missing something...BUTTER! Finest dry baked potato I ever ate. I would have asked for butter, but didn't know it was missing as I had to send the plate back because the steak was raw, not rare, RAW. (I ordered medium). You would think it would be easy to cook since it was as thin as a bed sheet. Once the plate came back, we never saw the waitress again. I never even noticed her drop the check with my plate. $32. For a $12 steak and a $9 chicken. Yeah, drinks are high there. Santa Fe and IHOP are a little farther down the road, but I'll have to make the trip if I want a steak or...
Read more10 minutes after ordering, they come back to our table to tell us the waffle maker was turned off and it's going to take longer to cook my wife's waffle, even though my food is already ready. They offered to make her pancakes instead. We still waited another 10 minutes for the food to arrive to our table. As soon as she put my plate down, I could see that it had been sitting under the heat lamp the whole time. My over medium eggs were now completely cooked through, the potatoes were dried out and the cheese was a big blob of hardness on top. They took my plate away and came back 5 minutes later apologizing about the waffle maker issue again and that they would take my food off of the ticket. They then offered to remake my plate. They brought it out and again, the eggs were over cooked. I don't know if the cook doesn't know how to cook eggs but the yellows should be runny in over medium eggs, not hard. The toast was soggy with all the butter they put on it and the bacon and sausage were room temp at best. I will not...
Read moreI was visiting my son. And I wanted some different a little more homie styled food. So we thought we'd try here. The service was very friendly, courteous, helpful and nice. The server smiled, answered all questions and went out of her way to help. Food was good. I think the fried mushrooms needed some seasoning (may a little salt or something). But everything else was good. I thought the grits could use a little water. (Way to thick). Out side that the meal was delicious. My son got the Chicken salad he said was great. Though we were full. We didn't get any dessert. I was told about their famous huge cinnamon rolls. I took pictures and when I come back you see my son I will stop and get one. I love the little hometown feel. And awesome hospitality. If you are new to the area, driving through or already live there, give them a try.
