July 15, 2023, I recently had an extremely disappointing experience at J Rodgers BBQ in Saraland. Despite their advertised closing time of 5 PM on Saturdays, I arrived at 4:36 PM to place a to-go order, only to be rudely informed that the kitchen had already closed at 4:30 PM, just 6 minutes after my arrival. As a customer who respects business hours, I was shocked and appalled by their lack of consideration and unhelpful attitude.
While I understand the importance of adhering to closing times, I believe that the staff member, a female, could have handled the situation with more tact and professionalism. Instead of dismissing my request outright, she could have taken a moment to check if any other food options were available, given that I was only minutes late. A little empathy and understanding go a long way in fostering a positive customer experience.
The dismissive response of "well it's closed" left a very sour taste in my mouth. As a result, I have decided not to patronize J Rodgers BBQ ever again. This kind of customer service is simply unacceptable, and it's evident that they do not value their customers.
I had been a loyal customer of J Rodgers BBQ, but after this incident, they have lost me permanently. As a consumer, I expect to be treated with respect and courtesy, especially when I am trying to support a local business.
In conclusion, I cannot recommend J Rodgers BBQ in Saraland due to their unaccommodating attitude, lack of empathy, and premature kitchen closure. I encourage potential customers to be wary of their commitment to customer service and adherence to posted business hours. There are plenty of other establishments in the area that value their customers and provide a better...
Read moredecided to take a chance on a highly recommended buffet. saw a lot of people recommending this place on reddit and facebook.
i went with my friend and we were immediately given a warm welcome. there was a drink machine out in the open so we could get our own refills, but the staff were so attentive and caring that we never got the chance
i loved the energy too. smiles all around, pats on the back, and overall a warm family feel.
the ribs and mac n cheese were the highlight for me. i thought the mac n cheese was creamy- not runny at all. has a real nostalgic taste to it, but still elevated to a restaurant level. the ribs were immaculate- i knew it was about to be something when my friend took a bite and paused.
the quality of the drinks were solid too. you'd be surprised how many family-owned businesses don't upkeep their machines or lower the concentration of syrup. great sodas.
the banana pudding was amazing- i actually had a wafer with...
Read moreLunch buffet for two- $41.54. Our first time eating here. First they had fly strips with dead flies hanging from the ceiling around the buffet table. I didn’t see that at first, but once there and looking around while eating… I saw them. There were several vegetables to choose from with ribs, fried chicken legs and wings and cold boiled sausage as meats. I think there was gumbo too, but I didn’t have it. Being a BBQ restaurant, I was expecting the ribs to be smoky and damn good, but overall it was just ok. My wife commented that my ribs are much better and as we drove off we both agreed we were disappointed and it wasn’t worth the price. I will say the fried chicken leg I had was good. The breading was light and crispy. Actually the best thing I had. I told her I’d like to have a to go box of just chicken legs and wings. Just so you know, there is a menu to order from, not just a buffet like we thought when we walked in. We will...
