I showed up on Super Bowl Sunday. They are normally closed but she invited us in. We ordered a hamburger and a side of her choice. The owner sat down and talked with us while we waited for our food. She was awesome very caring and personable. The hamburger was one of the best I have ever had. The coleslaw and baked beans are off the chain..lol And to wash it down she give us hand squeezed lemonade. I also ordered a slab of ribs to take to my Mom. She sent home a piece of smoked chicken breast for us to try. My mom is 5'2 90lbs soaking wet. She ate the whole slab by herself...lol Mom didn't allow me to share the ribs so I took it upon myself to try the chicken. It was so good. The best I have had. I would recommend this establishment to anyone who loves good country cooking.. sorry for the long story but they went above and beyond..

Awesome BBQ and Soul food. The sides here are as good as the BBQ. Staff are friendly and attentive. Love the food, the staff, and the atmosphere. J Rodgers has by far the best ribs anywhere. Whether you like wet ribs or dry, they have both. They also have fried chicken wings, which are better than you can get at any wing joint. Their "fried ribs" are so good. All of the sides are made from scratch and are delicious. Do you like gumbo? Well, if you do, you need to try J Rodgers' take on gumbo. It's called "Somebo". That's because it has some of this and some of that in it. J Rodgers is a local gem. Ms. Rodgers and all her family and staff are awesome people, and they really cook with love and soul.

I ordered their rib lunch special , the young lady over the phone was real sweet and very informative. The ribs was really goooood and also the potato salad always come through🤤 The only thing got me down was the banana pudding it was not fresh it was already brown when I opened the cup . I will go back just for the ribs or their chicken but I’ll pass on the dessert.

July 15, 2023, I recently had an extremely disappointing experience at J Rodgers BBQ in Saraland. Despite their advertised closing time of 5 PM on Saturdays, I arrived at 4:36 PM to place a to-go order, only to be rudely informed that the kitchen had already closed at 4:30 PM, just 6 minutes after my arrival. As a customer who respects business hours, I was shocked and appalled by their lack of consideration and unhelpful attitude.

While I understand the importance of adhering to closing times, I believe that the staff member, a female, could have handled the situation with more tact and professionalism. Instead of dismissing my request outright, she could have taken a moment to check if any other food options were available, given that I was only minutes late. A little empathy and understanding go a long way in fostering a positive customer experience.

The dismissive response of "well it's closed" left a very sour taste in my mouth. As a result, I have decided not to patronize J Rodgers BBQ ever again. This kind of customer service is simply unacceptable, and it's evident that they do not value their customers.

I had been a loyal customer of J Rodgers BBQ, but after this incident, they have lost me permanently. As a consumer, I expect to be treated with respect and courtesy, especially when I am trying to support a local business.

In conclusion, I cannot recommend J Rodgers BBQ in Saraland due to their unaccommodating attitude, lack of empathy, and premature kitchen closure. I encourage potential customers to be wary of their commitment to customer service and adherence to posted business hours. There are plenty of other establishments in the area that value their customers and provide a better...

decided to take a chance on a highly recommended buffet. saw a lot of people recommending this place on reddit and facebook.

i went with my friend and we were immediately given a warm welcome. there was a drink machine out in the open so we could get our own refills, but the staff were so attentive and caring that we never got the chance

i loved the energy too. smiles all around, pats on the back, and overall a warm family feel.

the ribs and mac n cheese were the highlight for me. i thought the mac n cheese was creamy- not runny at all. has a real nostalgic taste to it, but still elevated to a restaurant level. the ribs were immaculate- i knew it was about to be something when my friend took a bite and paused.

the quality of the drinks were solid too. you'd be surprised how many family-owned businesses don't upkeep their machines or lower the concentration of syrup. great sodas.

the banana pudding was amazing- i actually had a wafer with...

Lunch buffet for two- $41.54. Our first time eating here. First they had fly strips with dead flies hanging from the ceiling around the buffet table. I didn’t see that at first, but once there and looking around while eating… I saw them. There were several vegetables to choose from with ribs, fried chicken legs and wings and cold boiled sausage as meats. I think there was gumbo too, but I didn’t have it. Being a BBQ restaurant, I was expecting the ribs to be smoky and damn good, but overall it was just ok. My wife commented that my ribs are much better and as we drove off we both agreed we were disappointed and it wasn’t worth the price. I will say the fried chicken leg I had was good. The breading was light and crispy. Actually the best thing I had. I told her I’d like to have a to go box of just chicken legs and wings. Just so you know, there is a menu to order from, not just a buffet like we thought when we walked in. We will...
