We had a group Dinner at Tsunami last night and everything was outstanding! Between Carol helping me coordinate the group of 24, and seating us in the upstairs room (so pretty!) To Lydia our server, making the challenging task of taking orders correctly and bringing them to us (up and down many stairs.) She did it with grace and joy, and really made the meal and time together so enjoyable. They also offered us individual checks which makes is so much easier to dine out with friends. Between all of us, we covered most food groups of sushi and hibachi items. Everyone's food looked and tasted delicious. I am attaching a pic of a few of the diners plates. Highly recommend Tsunami for date night, or any size group you dine out with. Can't wait to go back!
4 of us went on Friday night. It was nice to see them busy, despite it being “off season.” We were seated and promptly greated by Secily. She is the sweetest- and its so obvious she loves her job and Tsunami. She helped us with suggestions, and was just so much fun through our dinner. For appetizer we shared the Ruby Tower (similar to the Ahi tower, but with sweet potato- the taste and texture and presentation were excellent. (Pic included). For dinner, we shared 2 Godzilla rolls, A Big Daddy roll, Hot Mama roll, and a seaweed salad roll (I forget the name of that one.) Also, trust me if you have not tried the pineapple fried rice (chicken or tofu) you are missing out! With the cashews and vegetables, it’s spectacular! All of our drinks were masterfully made by David. Out first drinks were off the menu (mine was tangerine bees knees- yum!) Then since he was chatting with someone near us- we asked him to come over and if we told him a spirit could be make something fun. Yes indeed! We had him make a rye cocktail, a gin cocktail and a vodka cocktail. They were all top level phenomenal. Tsunami/David are exactly why you need a mixologist over a bartender any time you can!! Also wanted to add Alex was helping out with water and plates and always had a smile and shared his sincere love of the food, and even shared what his parents ordered- that sounded wonderful. Once again can not wait...
Read moreMy husband call in to reserve a table for my 35th birthday and requested the deserts to be brought out of the end of the meal. He said they were so kind and said they'd give us a good seat (and they did.) Our table was available immediately when we arrived. The atmosphere is stunning. Gives Euro Asian Chic with so many fun geometric animals on every corner. Started out so well... we get our menus and waitress brings water to the table, we order a bottle of wine ($55) and crab Rangoons. We have myself, husband, and two girls 17f and 9f. Every menu item is about $30/person. I asked about a kids menu and there isn't one but they say I order a side order of chicken fried rice, noodles, or meat. Unfortunately these Ala cart or sides aren't on the menu and when asking the pricing for each item the waitress if u derstandly flustered as she doesn't know them either...so we ended just just deciding I'd share a plate with my youngest. It's been 30 minutes since ordering and our bottle of wine hadn't yet brought over, so we ask 10 mins later when the appetizer arrives about the wine. She comes back 10 minutes later and says they are out of that Vino but have a nice chianti they can over. We wait another 20 minutes and still don't receive our wine when she comes to tables and says they had to go grab this wine out of a special area as the bar was out. We wait an addition maybe 5 to 7 minutes before I politely wave her down and now says the bar is out of wine glasses, would be accept in a different glass. We opt to cancel the bottle as it meant to enjoy before our food, I asked for one glass of pinot grigio. If you guess it took them 15 minutes to bring that glass you'd be correct 🤣😭 good comes out short after. My 17f daugthers sushi was amazing - the chicken and filet mignon hibachi we ordered weren't hot.. $28/chicken $38/filet mignon
They did bring the desserts. They didn't charge me for the glass of wine.
Womp womp. Fell 100% flat on service, communication, clarity on the menu, and presentation. Not to mention is was a special occasion for me lol. This was our 1st and last time...
Read moreMy husband and I attended a birthday party in their upstairs “private party” area on Saturday. The food and cocktails were very good. Our server Jacob was very friendly and attentive to our portion of the party. There were approximately 40 guests part of this private Birthday event and the staff we dealt with were great. The layout of the event space is filled with various seating options, smaller tables, chairs, bench seats etc. My husband and I sat with our backs to the wine racks facing the stairs on a bench seat. We had our appetizers, we’re talking with our friends at neighboring tables and the people seated at our table waiting for the entrees to come out. Once our entree came out, a portion of the bench COLLAPSED. No one on staff knew this had happened nor checked on us. Once someone did we were asked “are you okay?” My husband responded with “we are fine”. When he went to get off the floor the other half of the bench where I was sitting collapsed. I am laughing uncontrollably at this point due to the disbelief this has just happened and complete embarrassment. We are then told they are going to get us chairs. My husband and I proceeded to get up and move out of the way. They brought us chairs and proceeded to remove the bench. After that, no one asked us how we were, no one checked on us. 10 minutes later we were asked how our food was and in conversation about the bench event, we were told they were put together the night before. In my opinion, as a restaurant of this stature, a manager should have came and apologized. This is a higher end restaurant and they appear to hold themselves to a certain standard. Saturday I did not feel that standard was upheld. Part of this group were elderly couples as well as mothers to be, sitting on the same bench’s my husband and I sat on. If one of theirs would have collapsed I feel there would have been a VERY different outcome. This is a learning experience, we were easy going about the situation at the time. The next...
