We (hubby and I) came to the Sarasota Waffle House on a busy Saturday morning with 4 other people. Accessible parking right up front. There was a row of people waiting to be seated up against the windows, and still we were told it was only a 10 minute wait. Once the tables were serviced, which took no time because the staff were so efficient and professional, we were quickly seated and given menus. As a 6-top we were in the corner with a booth and a couple of chairs at low level counter height. For me, that was ideal, so I didn't have to pull myself in and out of a booth. Hubs sat next to me (really it was 3 chairs and we left the one between us empty since it would have been awkward with another person randomly on the end of that counter). It was already getting less busy because we were past the morning rush, it was a little past 11, but still plenty of people coming in and out. Kay was our server, and she had just the most positively wonderful attitude as she took our drink order, confirming that the 6 of us were in a group. Hubs got the last cup of her current pot of coffee and she started another for the others. I ordered an iced tea, she asked if I wanted it sweet or unsweet, and I asked if I could have it with alternative sugar. She offered up Sweet'n'Low and Splenda to add to an unsweetened tea and I picked the choice with sucralose (Splenda). I ordered a pecan waffle, hashbrowns with sauteed onions, cheese, tomatoes and jalapenos. Hubs ordered the All Star American (eggs over easy, biscuit in place of toast, bacon, hash browns with sauteed onions and cheese, and a waffle). I was offered sugar free maple syrup as an option and chose that while hubs chose regular. We requested an ungrilled biscuit, but reflection tells me we should have asked it to be warmed up because the butter might have melted better. We were also offered jam, strawberry, grape or mixed fruit. I chose the mixed fruit, next time I will probably pick one of the other two. It was still good, but could have been better with melted butter. Since we were already ready to order, Kay placed our order while waiting for the rest of the group. Our group ordered all sorts of breakfast fare, and the classic waffle, for everyone to get a taste. Plates were fairly empty at the end of the meal so I can only imagine they enjoyed the food as much as we did. Kay offered coffee and drink refills, and checked on us once or twice during the meal, confident and friendly-- it was a truly...
Read moreABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!!!! My family and I arrived to get a nice bite to eat, as we love Waffle House. We arrived around 10pm tonight Jan 15/2017 its was very quiet there was only 4 of us, there was only one other person on restaurant. We had a waitress Nikki who was amazing, she took our orders and gave to cook named "Dale". When our food was ready, I was missing gravy on my super bowl, I had eggs on it which not supppse to be, and my bowl of grits were cold. I let waitress know to take eggs off, and my grits were cold, so got my Super Bowl back was good got another bowl of grits was cold again. So I said just delete the grits as there was no hot grits and would take awhile. My sister order was fine. My parents orders were all completely messed up with another bowl of cold grits. The waitress was very sincere in making it right. The cook "Dale" was not happy and seemed very agitated, he was banging things around, loudly. The waitress abd cook were arguing etc. The cook was absolute horrendous as he did not apologize for his mistakes and on top of that his behaviour was embarresing We almost got up and left because of his attitude of banging things around and was arrogant. Do not recommend this place to anyone , in fact the cook she be reported or fired for his unacceptable behaviour. Do not come to...
Read moreI've been to a lot of Waffle Houses, including this one. Usually, confident the Cooks can prepare the time honored recipes at all locations. First my bacon 🥓 was served at least 10 minutes before my eggs and toast. I sent the bacon back because it was cold, even with a new order the balance of my meal was at least 5 minutes behind. When my meal arrived, my over medium eggs were over easy. I don't like the rawness inside over easy eggs, but with the long wait time. I accepted my fate. My toast was served with the butter not melted. Meaning the toast was cold when buttered, My hash browns were overcooked too. A hard crispy shell isn't how they're usually prepared. Having served thousands of meals as a Server myself, I try not to bash the staff too much during my dining experience. I've been in the weeds myself almost every shift I've worked. However, I believe critical reviews create better service. I don't believe anyone should ever be fired. My philosophy is that everyone can be trained...
