I go here on occasion and I've had a few different things on the menu. They do a good job on some things but really lack on some of the more popular American Chinese dishes. Prices are a bit higher than some other local places but most food seems to be made with nice fresh ingredients.
First the service is amazing. They are very friendly and do a great job taking care of you. They have a small dine in area to eat, more than a few tables and it's very nice for a takeout focused restaurant.
The food is pretty good and definitely fresh but certain things are just a miss. I've had their sesame chicken combo, bourbon chicken combo, mu shu pork, and mi fun.
Mi fun was delicious, very authentic flavoring and taste. Mu shu was also delicious, came with 3 pancakes and plum (hoisin sauce). This is where the misses come...the sesame chicken just comes to you soggy. The chicken is lightly breaded but it's so thin that it just becomes a soggy flappy breading piece of chicken, also note that their sesame chicken is more on the savoury side and not sweet like most places. Bourbon chicken wasn't bad but it wasn't a hit for me...The flavor was good (like the mall bourbon chicken) but the chicken is cut in thin pieces and they become a little bit tough (not big chunks like the mall which keeps it moist).
Just to touch on the egg rolls as I see people mentioning them. They seem to be home-made. The are super crispy and flavor wise, are tasty, but it is severely lacking in filling so you get a lot of the wrapper skin to filling ratio. Tastes good but could be much better, especially since it looks like they make them in store!
TLDR - Great, friendly service. A little pricey compared to other local places. Depending on what you get, the food/flavor is good but some popular items are not...
Read moreOver the last thirty years of visiting and now living in the Sarasota area we have been looking for a great Chinese restaurant in Sarasota. After visiting many, many, many Chinese restaurants we have finally found a great Chinese restaurant, Asian Kitchen. They have a dining room that seats 30. It is comfortable, inviting, and immaculately clean. In addition, there is a steady flow of take-out orders. The owner, Sam, with his genuine grace and manner is very inviting and treats his customers like family. We have never been disappointed with any of the food items that we have ordered, though we do have our favorites. The Lunch Combo choices are delicious and a large portion (easily a two meal amount). A few of our favorite items are the orange chicken and lemon chicken. Their fried dumplings, egg rolls, and hot and sour soup are the best that we have ever had, anywhere. We dine at Asian Kitchen, at least, once a week. In addition, it is our go to meal to carry-out for our New Year’s Eve celebration. Asian Kitchen is located in the Palmer Crossing Plaza, at the southeast corner of the intersection of Clark and Honore Roads...
Read moreMy first takeout order was excellent! My second trip I ordered Beef with Broccoli, not Broccoli with Beef. This container was full of broccoli sprinkled with carrots and a little beef on top. The second item was Pork Fried Rice. The rice was greasy with barely any pork. The third item was shrimp with lobster sauce. It tasted as though shrimp was dropped into egg drop soup. The wonton soup was tasteless. I am very disappointed. Great food and customer service was what I paid for and expected. I enjoy good food. That did not happen this evening. Going back to China 1. It is a little further from where I live but I get what I expect, real great tasting food. I called to relay my disappointment and there was nothing but silence on the other end. I know good Asian food. Perhaps the cook had a bad day. But, I cannot see myself buying bland food with all vegetables and no meat to speak of. There was hardly any sauce, in the Broccoli with Beef. It was pretty dry. Well sorry to say I will not return nor will I return. The honeymoon is over. I am done. I cannot justify recommending...
