We came here after a day at the beach, hungry and ready for a cocktail after the long day in the water. We chose it for it's casual vibe and menu choices. Pretty much disappointed in every aspect. Our server was as friendly as a wet towel. While the restaurant was busy, she rushed through every aspect of our meal, til the very end when we waited and waited and waited for our receipt, which we eventually had to go inside for.
We got the alligator bites appetizer. It was okay I guess. The largest piece in the basket had some uncooked breading on 1 side. Easy mistake. No big deal. Both of our skinny ultimate margaritas had very little tequila and I couldn't taste, or see, the grand marnier at all. We got salt on the rim and there was a LOT! Like, so much that I had to wipe it off and the last 1/3rd of the drink was still salt water, gross. Our son got a soda.
The food came out CRAZY FAST! I was right to be worried. All 5 of our fish tacos had about an ounce (maybe) of very tough overcooked fish in each with mostly lettuce and cheese. Our son's burrito while huge, was mostly rice, he ate it because he was starving. My side of sweet plantains was cold in the middle.
It's almost as though this restaurant doesn't want repeat local business. This was our whole meal and the cost was $100, plus I tipped $20 because we will never return and we have worked in the restaurant industry. But I normally tip 40-50%. So that tells you something. Most places can have an off day, in the kitchen, or the server is having a day. We understand that, but there is no excuse for this meal. This place looks and feels like a tourist trap and it...
Read moreA good and unique place to eat right off A1A. Sandbar Sports Grill is located off A1A between the Pineda and Eau Gallie Causeways. It is a stand-alone building with parking around 3 sides of the restaurant. There is a large beefed-up pickup truck parked in the grass to the north of the structure. The building is a bright yellow brick affair that is easy to find along the street. It has inside and outside dining areas and offers a pleasant atmosphere that is great for beachgoers and locals alike. The eclectic decor and lively ambiance create a fun dining experience. The menu features a diverse selection of dishes, catering to most dietary preferences, including keto and gluten-free options. I recently visited with a large group that ate inside. It was cool and clean. The staff was pleasant and efficient. I got a chicken Burrito dish that came out quickly, was delicious and offered enough food for 2 meals. Everyone seemed to enjoy their dishes. Prices were a bit high but reasonable for our economy and I was not a fan of their iced tea but otherwise it was a very pleasant overall eating experience that I would recommend to others...
Read moreJust OK. That about sums it up. Went here finally after hearing so many people liking it. Even my brother, who comes down yearly and goes to the Cocoa one, every time says it's good. It was Saturday night, and there were very few people there, which is always a sign, but we went in anyway. I ordered the category 4 hurricane, which was good, but if you are looking for a Pat O's hurricane, it's not it, but it was good enough to order a 2nd one. I ordered the gator tacos, and my fiance ordered the baja bowl. The flavor of the tacos was good, but for $30 for 3 tacos, I was looking for more than a couple of pieces of gator. My fiancÊ's bowl had good flavor also, but the chicken was definitely pre-cooked and heated up for the dish and not cooked to order. The tortilla bowl was soggy and was cooked in old oil. The waitress went missing after she took our initial order, and I had to order my 2nd drink from another one. Then, someone else brought it out. The original waitress finally came back to finish up, so maybe she took a break. Because it wasn't anything special, we will check this...
