This was one of the worst cafe experiences Iâve ever had, and I have been to hundreds of cafes. A simple order: a cold brew caramel latte and an egg sandwich. The cold brew latte wasnât even a latte, I got a cup of cold black coffee with a spoonful of milk. When I asked if she could fix my coffee I was just handed a cup of milk.
I stood waiting for the egg sandwich for 40 minutes, watching them fill order after order of people who came after me. I told them I was waiting and the girl apologized and said they were making them. After more waiting I told her again and she came back to tell me they never printed out the ticket for the sandwich and were now actually making them (this was about 30 mins after my order). After MORE waiting I was getting really irritated and a dude came out to grab something from the back and asked what I had ordered. I told him my order and explained that I had been waiting for 40 minutes and I had already told the other girl working back there, and that I was annoyed it was taking so long. His response was âyeah well you couldnât have been waiting that long since we just printed the tickets (false, they FORGOT to print my tickets 40 minutes prior when I actually paid for it and left a 20% tip), other restaurants in the area you wait an hour for your food so I should be grateful Iâve only been waiting 30-40 minutes, thereâs 30 other orders they need to fill, etcâ before turning around and going back inside. so rude. If you canât work with customers without being rude to them, donât work in the service industry. Also, it doesnât take 30+ minutes to cut a square of baked egg and slap it on a bagel. Letâs not pretend otherwise.
If I could give negative stars I would. Their base coffee is good and thatâs the only nice thing I can say about them. 0 customer service skills, canât even fill an order properly. Ironically, their cups say â#spreadloveandcoffeeâ. Maybe they should try following their own...
Read moreWe were traveling and looking for a quick lunch while we stopped in Saugatuck. While I canât have coffee, I love the feel of a cozy coffeehouse. This shop had all the cozy feels; it was cozy, comfortable, welcoming, rustic. There was a great coffee menu, and the friendly staff helped me navigate a non-coffee drink - blueberry lemonade. It was good, and even came with fresh blueberries. Where the great experience stopped was with the egg sandwich I ordered. An English Muffin, egg and cheese, pretty basic, but it typically works with my numerous allergies and food restrictions. The first bite, and I wasnât even sure what I was eating. The English muffin was dry and hard. I get that they donât always have a super moist texture (these are something I eat frequently), but this were more than that. The egg was rubbery brown, and it wasnât until I picked in the middle that I actually found something that resembled the texture and taste of egg. At the bottom corner was a brown blob, I had found the seasoning, which is great if you adore a mouth full of pepper all at once. I did take the sandwich back to the counter, and I was told this was their typical egg sandwich, the egg being brown and the seasoning settles in one spot because of the pan that it used. I couldnât eat more than the first bite and the little bit of egg I scraped from the middle. This may be an ideal egg sandwich for some, and if so, this is for you. For me, I couldnât tolerate it. (The heavy pepper caused some issues for my allergy related health condition on top of it all.) It was disappointing to throw away most of a $7 sandwich as my husband wouldnât touch it either. If we lived close in the area, it would be easy to give another try with a different menu item. But weâre not, and we likely wonât take another visit there even if back...
