I absolutely love sushi! I have yet to find a place with the quality of sushi and food Kyoto has and thats why there is even any stars on this review. I gave this location such a poor rating for their customer service. The last couple of times it has been absolutely horrible experiences.
This most recent time we went, we went with a group of 4 and we all but 1 decided to do the all you can eat . When it came to order food, I usually order for my husband and I since he's not too familiar with the rolls. When I finished my order she looked at me and with an attitude told me to make sure I ate all my food due to the 15%surcharge in leftover food and that I ordered a lot on the menu. I told her I was aware and I was ordering for two but thanks for the warning.
My friend just decided to get a plate of Chicken udon since she skipped out on the all you can eat. When they came out and handed out all the food they placed her plate in front of her so she assumed that was her plate . She got about 3/4 done with the plate when the waiter than proceeds to tell her that her plate was actually bigger and the chicken udon she was eating was a smaller plate for the all you can eat which is what my husband ordered. We apologized for the confusion and the waiter proceeded to get her her actual plate and than gave her more than half eaten udon to my husband and walked away. We couldn't believe that she instead of getting my husband a new plate of udon just gave him my friends plate. For a moment we thought she was coming back with a new plate but when time passed by and we asked for the chicken udon she pointed at the half eaten plate and said that was supposed to be his plate !! I would understand if she maybe didn't see that the plate was eaten but when she came to the table my friend was eating it in front of her and you could clearly see the plate was almost done.
This was only the experiences from the last time we came here..... if only you knew the other times. We will never return to this location. Time to try the new Eden prairie location because their food is...
Read moreI reluctantly give it one star but there is no option for a 0! Three of us went there around 2 on a Saturday afternoon. I don't know if we came at a off time. I have been there several times in the past with good food and usually decent service. What we received on 3/9/19 was so extremely poor I need to place in a review. To start with we were given a server who really had no service ability much less could she speak clearly enough that any of us at the table could make out what she was saying. Next one person wanted something other than sushi and that had to be ordered off a different menu. When the dish arrived it was supposed to be steak and veggies most of the veggies were sprouts and the steak was about a half inch thick. I ordered some fried rice and sushi rolls the other person ordered dumplings, soup, edemma and a couple rolls as well. When she brought out the order we both were given soup, fried rice. Then the sushi rolls we're all placed on one plate and sat in front of me so I no suggestion that they were both orders or even an explanation of which is what incase you may not all ready know. So after realizing on our own what the deal waa with all the sushi on one plate. Let me also point out this is 2 people sitting on opposite sides of the table. When we decide enough is enough of the this lack luster dinning experience. We ask for to go box for our leftovers so we may have them at a later time if we so choose seeing as though it is what we are purchasing. We are then informed of 2 things no we won't give you a to go box. And here is the real laugh they are going to charge us an extra 15% for apparently for what they call food waste. So we ask to see a manager and apparently they don't have a manager on site or supervisor so at this point we decided to pay the bill. I usually can let thing's slide when I get good service and lack luster food or vice versa but I can honestly say I wouldn't recommend Kyoto for either food or service and I would recommend finding a different place...
Read moreI've been here many times over the years from when they first opened here south of the river... About 10 minutes from my house. Yay! I was last here this past fall (2017) for my oldest son's Birthday. The interior 9as always) is very clean and pleasant, representing the Asian Culture with lovely art, comfortable booths and decor. Prices are reasonable (2018) for their All-You-Can-Eat Buffet: Lunch: $15.99 Dinner: $24.99 **They also have regular $2-$5 off coupons for your meals - Look online. Kyoto is a good Sushi, Maki & Hibachi place, especially for those who are new to this style of food. The servers are very friendly and informative as well as the chefs that you can watch as they prepare the food for service. They do not put the food out "buffet style" so don't go looking for a line that you think you need to get into for food! You are usually left with a menu from the server that you can peruse throughout your meal in case you decide you wish to try something new or reorder what you already had. I will say that their Shrimp Tempura is addicting and so is the Calamari. But some of my other favorites are - Sashimi Salmon & Yellow Tail, Sushi Octopus & Unagi (Eel), Maki Rolls; Volcano, Dragon, Sexy Girl, Spider & Spicy Tuna. So, I suggest that if you're going to eat from the "Buffet" that you go in a group of 4 to 6 or more. This way everyone can order different items and receive their dishes all at the same time. And I'm here to tell you that the service as they present the dishes is wonderful! Doing it this way of course allows everyone to share amongst themselves! Just remember... Kyoto's does charge a 15% waste charge on food that is not eaten. So know when...
