A Gastronomic Journey at Kathiawadi Kitchen: Nestled in the heart of Sayerville, New Jersey, Kathiawadi Kitchen stands as a beacon of authentic Indian cuisine, specifically specializing in the vibrant flavors of the Kathiawadi region. With its enticing aromas wafting through the air and its vibrant décor, stepping into Kathiawadi Kitchen feels like embarking on a culinary adventure. We have been regularly visiting this place since its inception many years back and hte quality remains the same. In my recent visit to this esteemed establishment made me realize that I never wrote a review for them and even after these many years, this place left me thoroughly impressed, albeit with a few caveats.
First and foremost, let's delve into the highlight of my experience: the food. Kathiawadi Kitchen offers an extensive menu boasting a plethora of traditional Gujarati / Kathiawadi dishes, each bursting with bold flavors and aromatic spices. Every dish from the Western region of India, is a testament to the culinary prowess of the chefs. One cannot miss indulging in their signature Kathiawadi thali, which I took, my family had Gujarati and Punjabi thalis. The thali (platter) is a delightful assortment of curries, bread, and condiments that provides a true taste of the region's gastronomic heritage. Each bite was a symphony of flavors, transporting me to the bustling streets of Gujarat. Must mention the rotlo (rotis / bread), Chhas (Savory Buttermilk), gor(Jaggery), ghee and sev tameta (tomato curry with Fried Noodles) which are a part of almost every meal other than Punjabi.
However, no dining experience is complete without impeccable service, and Kathiawadi Kitchen certainly delivers in this aspect. The staff members exude warmth and hospitality, ensuring that every guest feels welcomed and attended to. Despite the bustling nature of the restaurant, the servers were attentive and knowledgeable, readily offering recommendations and accommodating special requests. Their dedication to providing top-notch service undoubtedly enhances the overall dining experience, leaving patrons feeling pampered and satisfied.
While the food and service undoubtedly shine, it's essential to address the elephant in the room: the long wait times. Despite making a reservation over the phone, I found myself waiting for an extended period before being seated. This seems to be a common issue at Kathiawadi Kitchen, with many patrons lamenting the lengthy wait times, particularly during peak hours. While the quality of the food may warrant such patience, it's undoubtedly a downside for those seeking a quick dining experience.
Adding to the confusion is the restaurant's inconsistent reservation policy. On some days, they honor phone reservations, while on others, it's a first-come, first-serve basis. This lack of consistency can lead to frustration among patrons, especially those who have made prior arrangements only to find themselves waiting in line. A clearer and more transparent reservation system would undoubtedly alleviate this issue and enhance the overall customer experience.
Despite these minor drawbacks, Kathiawadi Kitchen remains a culinary gem in Sayerville, NJ, offering a tantalizing glimpse into the rich tapestry of Indian cuisine. From its delectable dishes to its impeccable service, the restaurant exudes an air of authenticity and charm that is sure to captivate diners of all backgrounds. While the long wait times and reservation inconsistencies may pose a slight inconvenience, they pale in comparison to the gastronomic delights that await within. Whether you're a seasoned connoisseur of Indian cuisine or simply seeking an unforgettable dining experience, Kathiawadi Kitchen is a must-visit destination that promises to delight the senses and leave a lasting impression....

Read moreI wish i could rate this place 0. Total money making policy, hopeless food. Too much oily and i guess they buy only tomatoes for kitchen as all gravies i had in my kathiawadi thali was tomato based!!! You can see 2 veggies with same color, that's the magic of tomato and oil! Only khichadi and Bhakari was ok, but why to pay $21 to eat only 2 items? Being maharashtrian i know what comes in thali and what you should be provided. They say its unlimited but ones they serve the server comes with only chapati, he will make multiple rounds but they will not come for Farsan or Sweets! Oh yaa...in sweets they give you Haldiram Frozen Gulabjamun, so disgusting! Most of the ppl do not recognize it but being from hotel background i could easily recognized. Dhokla is most popular food in Gujrath, but that dhokla was so so dry that got stuck in my mouth at first bite! ,they make ppl attract with Chaas but they dont know how to make one, they just put curd and water in mixer and serve you as Chaas, i can teach that chef how to make one with flavor!! When we got done , my huband went to washroom and i was waiting for check, but server came and ask me to leave the table that he can makes other sit! So rude. And the most horrible part is they charge $10 for service charge on top of my bill for 3 people, which thali place does that? Server hardly came to use to ask anything but service charged was charged as he gave us VIP service. The most useless food and place i have ever seen in NJ. They dont know what taste they are providing, my 15 yr could make better food than there so called chef! Go to Pune/Bombay and get some lessons from authentic chefs how to make and serve thali!!! Dont make people fool, specially who are not from the food background.😡 Would never recomend. Esse accha get haldiram 5/6 frozen veggies and make good thali😄 at home. My total bill was $70 for 3 person. Which was not at...
