I've got a lot to say because I've been here 3 times so far. TLDR: they have a SERIOUS staffing problem, but if you really wanna try it, only go here for the corn dog and boba, don't expect anything else to be good. (I recommend the hot Cheetos corn dog ) So they had a rough start it would seem, as the opening day was delayed multiple times. I went the first time on their second day open and ordered a boba tea, bánh mì, corn dog, bao (called dumplings on the menu), and the non fried spring rolls, another corn dog and pho the next time, and just recently another corn dog and boba. The boba was just about as good as any other boba smoothie place around town, good but nothing to write home about. The bánh mì wasn't bad, the meat was nicely flavored, but it wasn't very filled, and the bread seemed kinda old, I've definitely had better elsewhere. The corn dog however was pretty good, so far I've tried the Cheeto, Hot Cheeto, and corn flake, always half cheese, half a hot dog; the corn flake dog was bland, it's green, but it's just food coloring 😂. The pho... Was terrible, worst pho I've ever had, it was actually surprising how bad it was. The soup base was flavorless, and that's the most important part! They were at least generous with the meat, but the meat balls are not my thing, very chewy. Next I had the bao, or for some reason they're called "dumplings" on the menu. They are definitely frozen, and honestly, I wouldn't mind learning where they got them from, BUT they are NOT worth the price as they are literally a breakfast sausage patty in bao bread. Lastly, the spring rolls, and honestly they were pretty good, actually better than the HEB ones, as they come with a little bit of sliced pork, but otherwise pretty much the same as the HEB ones in the sushi section. Lastly I want to address the staff. I can tell that the owner clearly had a rough time finding people, as the staff here are... Not experienced, they don't really know whats on the menu quite yet, and have gotten my order wrong 2/3 times. It seems like this is likely the first job for most of them, which is fine, but there doesn't seem to be much management involved which is disappointing, and not a great sign. There are also clearly some issues with the menu as they offer in the boba slush section "any milk tea flavor" however that is not true, as the girls at the counter will attest, so it would seem some edits will have to be made to the menu at some point sooner than later. This will likely be the last time I go here for a while, I'll wait and see if they train the staff better, but definitely not trying...
Read moreIll give a really honest review because I love this restaurant. I usually have ordered delivery in between breaks so I won't comment too much on freshness nor service but I have ordered on numerous occasions. However in regards to the food I think the banh mi is the best to order from here its very rich and I love the sauces they add, if you order by the night the bread will get pretty stale and quality drops but that's really with a lot of other establishments. I've ordered from here multiple times and so the only thing I dislike is the boba sugar level. At first I ordered specific percentages of sugar but it came out with an excess amount of sugar. I even tried ordered zero to a quarter and it came out as so much more sugar than I ordered. Also I would order the crab ragoons pretty frequently because they were a good price and it would incentives me to order more food from there but I think they removed it from their menu which is pretty sad for me but whatever. Also compared to other restaurants like yippon ramen whereas the packaging is extremely professional, the food quality and flavor is always consistent, and the boba drink follows the exact sugar percentages to this restaurant it's a huge gap in regards to all the above i listed. However, this restaurant has a sort of flavor of a brand new shop that just opened and its just developing. All in all I like the boba and the bahn mi, everything else is a bit mediocre aside from those nothing stands out. But I really do see a lot of potential to grow and improve and I will still keep...
Read moreCute place and when I went around lunch today (second day open) there was not a long delay. Coincidentally the restaurant name is listed in order from best to worst items.
Food breakdown: 1.) Smoothie and slush ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - great flavor and had real strawberry chunks in it. Pretty cups too. 2.) Banh mi, pork ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- Really good, some good sauce on it, very fresh vegetables. 3.) Corn dog with corn flakes - this is the only Korean corndog I’ve ever had. Makes it hard to judge. It was well made and the cheese was good though. 4.) Pho ⭐️⭐️ - heartbreaking 🥲 $15.99 was not worth it. Doesn’t have any flavor, not much noodles and different flat thick noodles that threw me off, smaller than average portion, and just overall cost too much for that. On a positive note- the vegetables were very fresh.
Only other issue was while ordering. I originally ordered a second pho, but then said I wanted to remove it because I found the bahn mi and corndog on the menu. The pho wasn’t removed
While ordering boba: Me: do you guys have boba? I can’t find it Cashier: we can put boba in any drink Me: okay I’ll take a strawberry smoothie with boba Cashier: do you want any toppings? We have poppers (etc etc) Me: just the boba
And then the drink did not...
