The Other Place — Restaurant in Scott Township

I called for catering pricing and spoke with “Dwayne”. We discussed many food options on the menu. He asked for my demographic information and party details. I reiterated I was just calling around for quotes. He gave me a general total price. I thanked him, but stated the price was more than I wanted to spend. He told me to “call him back on Friday” if I decided to go through with the Order. I never called him back. They showed up at my event 2 weeks later?! We had switched the Grove in the interim, so they brought catered food to the original Grove. I have no idea what types of food he brought, or the quantity as we discussed a variety of dishes?! They sued me and took me to the Magistrate to “get their money back”? There was not a Caterer Order, a Credit Card Deposit or a Contract? No Follow-up calls. Nothing. Just my initial phonecall inquiry. He outright lied at the hearing. He told the Judge he said “if I didn’t call him back, to proceed with the Order”?! He said I ordered “Special Pork” that takes 2 days to come in and prepare? I read all of the previous Google reviews and there was mention of “The person answering the Phone is combative, and tells the customer it’s his fault”, “Someone took my Order down wrong and blamed me for it”, “Owners, Hold yourself accountable”, “very disrespectful place”, “The person answering the Phone had a listening problem”, “They forgot my order and didn’t seem to care” etc. etc. If you use them to cater your event, make sure there is a written contract in black and white. Who does this?! This Place is a Fraud, the owners are crooks and perjurers. I’m sure they are fine if you only...

This review is specifically for the homemade Lasagnas. I've known for a long time that The Other Place offers these on a few hours notice, in several sizes and styles, and you cook or they do - but we'd never tried one.

To surprise my wife, on a random weekday I decided to order one for dinner with a dozen garlic mini-buns. I called in mid-afternoon (around 2 or 2:30 pm) and ordered a small "classic" style Lasagna with homemade noodles and meatballs, sausage and cheese, and requested it to be ready for pick-up at 5:45 pm. The price was about 46 dollars and change.

I plopped the box onto the kitchen counter at 6pm, and went to work with my spatula, plating hot, aromatic squares of the preparation... and WHAT a DELIGHT it was! The Lasagna was just the right size for two full dinners for our family of four, and even the kids (intolerably picky eaters) gobbled it up. My wife was sure that I must have stopped at somebody's favorite Italian grandma's and forced her to make it! And I had to force myself to stop at two large pieces. A couple of garlicy warm garlic buns and a glass of the grape rounded out the meal.

Lasagna from The Other Place is one weekday convenience that we will be availing ourselves of on a regular basis! For families with two working parents, it's like having a chef waiting at home.

Good food, what I ordered (always complicated🤣), ready on time, and great people. Ya know, people really make a diffence in the experience of food. For example, there is a place a couple miles away by my dad's place, that does a little different kind of crust that I always loved at first bite - but the people are so awful that the pizza itself leaves a lingering bad aftertaste and I can't stand the smell in my house the next day. I thought it was something wrong with me. But I'm helping a relative just up the street & needed to buy food for my work crew. I really enjoyed the interaction with the staff, and was surprized to find myself noshing on one of my 2 leftover peices on the way home instead of giving it to my buddy (sorry, dude).
