A new restaurant in the Valley! We went in with high expectations from what we've heard about the quality of the food. We ordered OG Smash Burger with fries and Caesar Salad. Smash Burger was different and good. The meat was smashed and grilled, creating more browning and a unique texture. The abundant melted cheese, pickles and sauce combined to create an enjoyable experience. Now, the fries were fantastic! They were lightly breaded and perfectly done. The Caesar Salad was very disappointing. It was made with a bed of red leaf lettuce, instead of romaine, which was described on the menu. The lettuce was too big and couldn't eat it without getting your face covered with dressing. The dressing lacked acid which left it off balance. I cannot believe I paid $15 for that dish. If it wasn't for the fries, I would've given this restaurant 1 star. Humble Sea... Without a doubt, one of the best breweries around. Socks & Sandals...Yum!

Oh, the Emerald Mallard, a sight to be seen, In a house that is old, with a history serene. The Cremer House stands since way back in time, A place full of flavor, both hearty and fine. Oh, the burgers are crispy, the patties divine, The best in the world, bite after bite, line by line. The fries are so golden, so crunchy, so great, You’ll love every nibble—don’t leave a stray plate! Oh, the lasagna! A marvel, a dream, Thirty dollars of magic in every rich seam. Layered and cheesy, so full of delight, A dish you will savor from morning to night. Oh, the seating is cozy, indoors or out, With heat lamps and charm all sprinkled about. The bathrooms are vintage, the bar is a star, The ambiance shines like the best that there are. Oh, the prices may rise, but the flavors will soar, It’s a treasure you’ll visit again and once more. So come to the Mallard, where taste leads the way, It’s a meal you’ll remember, a truly grand day!

The cheeseburger savant has expanded and all I can say is GET IN MY MOUTH!!! His food is so elevated, so sexy, so delish. The smashed burgers are still amazing with a skirt that Marilyn Monroe would be jealous of, but O.M.G. the Mallard Charcuterie Board is what dreams are made of: HOUSE-MADE epi baguette with whipped butter (I think I tasted honey, peppercorns, sea salt, and chives). It's served with PORK MOUSSE (maybe 'Nduja) and decadent, fatty fat fat salami and coppa. It's a flavor bomb. We also got freshly shucked, perfectly chilled oysters with the cutest hot sauce dropper and the melt-in-your mouth basque cheesecake with blackberries. Creamy, creamy, creamy! Service is sooo nice and seriously, this collab between Emerald Mallard and Humble Sea is truly special. Such a hidden gem.

Replying to the reply...

I am not sure if you are being sparky or really asking for an honest reply? I will answer as if there was no snark. Caviar is great! Cold greasy toast is not. Had the toast been light and crisp, it would have been great. Getting a mouthful of cold grease is a bad experience, and sets the tone as for what is to come. An amuse bouche is there to amuze, bring us in; delight and bring us to want more. Since you are asking, it did not. I have never wanted to spit out caviar before either. I know it was not the fish eggs grossing me out.

What did you do right? The burger was good. It had a pleasant taste and the onions brought it up and the smash was great at creating the caramelized flavor most enjoy. Paying extra for 3 jalapeño rings seems petty and seems a way to just charge more or to discourage customization. The fries were decent and plentiful. They were eaten with gusto and shared with my companion. What would make them better? A custom sauce that says, hey we are proud of these, not just trying to fill the basket.

Reviews are here to tell others about your place, honestly. They are also there as feed back to what the chef is doing right, or what we, the customers liked or not. You chose to hand out caviar in a strange way. You chose to call it a Caeser salad when it was not.

I want to support local businesses and tell my friends and family about great things to do, see and eat in our mountain villages. I also want my words to tell them the truth about what I have seen, done and tasted.

$22 for a burger and fries in a basket while having to scrounge for a seat in a way too loud bar? C'mon. It was good, but not that good. Radicchio, and capers as a Caesar salad? No. It was ok, but NOT a Caesar Salad. Things have names for a reason. Also, they were handing out some toast rounds with cream and caviar. NOPE, toast was drenched in oil and eas literally a...

Don't be scammed by those pictures on their website. It's not true. There is a completely different atmosphere. I mean, you can eat this kind of burger at any fast food chain restaurant with more comfort. My husband read about this restaurant and was talking about it for months. We traveled there from Cupertino on a Friday night. Such a waist! You order food outside through a window. The pictures you see on the website are the next-door restaurant, which they share sitting with. So order through a window, take utensils from the box. Don't forget to wipe them with napkins! Then hunt for a table. Wait for people to finish their food and drinks to sit. Otherwise, you will eat, holding your plates in your hands. Oh, we were so naive to expect food served in plates. We got plastic trays instead! The quality of the food is questionable. Greasy, too salty and looking unattractive. Maybe it was a rush hour and on other days it's more enjoyable but I won't give it another chance because as I said the food is bad. Oh, and you pay tips before you get to eat. And we left tips. And it is...
