Sketchy park where the locals smoke cigarettes, have off leash unsocialized animals, and treat you like your an outsider. I came here on a Thursday morning at 9am with my two your old daughter. There were a number of people lurking in the shadows, we used the porta-potties which were dirty as expected (and smelled heavily of cigarettes), and unfortunately lacking toilet paper. The park was nice, but couldn't help but feel a little on edge due to the odd people lurking in the shadows. Decided to take a walk over the covered bridge, a walking only bridge which was rather impressive. I came out on the other side to what looked like a walking dirt road. To my surprise it looked like there were stables near by! Unfortunately as I approached I was scolded by a woman for letting my daughter walk on the middle of what was apparently a public dirt road. She was abrasive and grumpy. In hind sight she was right, however it was unclear that we were walking on a gravel path that would be used by road vehicles. Read moreThe covered bridge park is a place I have been coming since I was a baby. It is a nice spot to have a picnic, and it is right across the street from safeway. The bathroom situation is a little sketchy, being only porta potties that are also used by junkies and homeless. The park in general is kept clean and safe. But there is an uneasy drug presence at the end of the park where the houses all are. This is a great spot to go in the daytime, and the bridge is beautiful, majestic and historic. I would try to avoid it past sundown, but the park is closed anyways so there is no reason to go... The county is good at keeping the park equipment updated and clean, I have never come here thinking it was old and...
Read moreThe Felton Covered Bridge (San Lorenzo river) is rich in history and recently restored. In front of the bridge is a park for picnics and a children's playground. No BBQ. Dogs must be on a leash, but there's even a volleyball court. There is a co-op horse boarding facility behind the bridge that is privately run by a local couple who are knowledgeable about horses and strictly enforce the few posted rules in order to protect horses and their owners from the occasional problems that visitors can cause. A great way to enjoy if you're new to horses. Bonus: The Bigfoot Museum and Henry Cowell Park is right down the...
