I've been coming here since the new owners took over, and I have to say—they’ve done a fantastic job updating the menu while still preserving the cozy, welcoming vibe of the original café. It’s a great blend of fresh energy and hometown charm. The atmosphere is warm and laid-back, and it’s especially family-friendly. They even have games available for both kids and adults, which makes it a fun place to hang out. On more than one occasion, I’ve seen couples enjoying a game together while relaxing to the great music playing in the background. Exciting news—they’re launching live music starting October 4th, and I can’t wait to check it out! What really sets this place apart is their commitment to supporting local. They source their pastries and coffee beans from local bakeries and vendors, which adds a special touch to everything they serve. The menu is surprisingly diverse, with delicious breakfast and lunch options, including standout items like their soft, authentic New York bagels. The staff is another highlight—always friendly, attentive, and genuinely invested in creating a positive experience for every customer. Whether you’re grabbing a coffee to go or spending a relaxing afternoon with friends or family, Mountain Roasting Company is definitely worth a visit.

Good coffee, but poor service. We walked in and weren’t greeted or acknowledged, even though there was only one other customer inside. Three baristas were behind the counter, and it took over 5 minutes for anyone to take our order. When they finally did, the girl who helped us was rude and seemed annoyed, as if we were bothering her. Overall, the vibe just wasn’t welcoming. Despite the awkward service, the coffee and bagel were actually good. But good food isn’t enough to make up for bad energy. We won’t be coming back.

Best Coffee Shop in Felton! Mountain Roasting Company is Back and Better Than Ever! If you’re searching for the best coffee shop in Felton, California, look no further than Mountain Roasting Company. This beloved local gem has reopened under the care of Jason and Yvonne, and they’ve truly brought new life to this cherished community café.

Their updated coffee and tea menu is incredible; always evolving with seasonal specials, creative drinks, and customer favorites. One standout? Their Strawberry Matcha Latte – it’s hands-down the best matcha drink in California! Jason hand-muddles fresh frozen strawberries with just a touch of sugar, creating a vibrant, flavorful drink you won’t find anywhere else.

As a longtime matcha lover, I’ve tried it all, and Mountain Roasting Company is the only place around that makes traditional matcha the right way. I even mentioned a Banana Matcha Latte to Jason, and he added it to the menu! talk about responsive and personalized service!

They also serve the best cold brew in the entire Santa Cruz area. It is rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced. It blows every other local and Santa Cruz coffee shop out of the water.

The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and family-run – exactly what you’d expect from a true hometown favorite. The service is top-tier, and the owners go above and beyond to make every guest feel valued. Plus, they offer Apple Pay, tap-to-pay, and an easy loyalty rewards program through your phone number.

Whether you’re local or visiting the Santa Cruz Mountains, do yourself a favor and stop by Mountain Roasting Company in Felton. It’s easily my favorite coffee shop in the area, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious drinks, friendly faces, and a cozy...

I used to love this place and looked forward to getting breakfast sandwiches from here. The service was slow and was one order at a time, but it had a personal old time service and quality that I liked and it felt nostalgic. Then new owners came, and it just kinda sucks now. The pastries all seam like frozen stuff from Costco or some other business supplier, and every time I've went im pretty sure the bagels were from the day prior (very limited selection). Im pretty sure they microwave the bagels for the breakfast sandwiches because they are always kinda wet and slimey because of it. There's limited ingredients available now too. I used to really enjoy some spinach in my sandwich. They have it in a quiche tho, but none for sandwiches? Ok, so i assume they dint make the quiche either. I just don't feel like this place has anything to offer. Like, I wouldn't go out of my way to come here anymore. Nor do I stop when passing by anymore. I tried it multiple times just hoping it was a fluke. Ohhhh, that the previous bagels were so much better. The Jalapeno was tip notch....
