My kids asked for Chipotle. So even though it's not a place I would prefer to pick for Mexican, away we went.
Immediately upon walking into the store, the guy behind the counter informed us that they were out of cheese, guacamole and chicken. Since it was pouring down rain and we were already there, we decided to make due & get queso cheese instead since they were out of shredded cheese. As a guy walked in who looked to be just arriving, the kid helping us yelled at him that he had been there since 6:30 am.
We ordered a couple of steak bowls, one with no cheese, since they were out, and another steak bowl with queso, only because they didn’t have shredded cheese, a basic ingredient. Since they were out of guacamole, which is something we were expecting to get before learning of their supply issues, we ordered a bag a chips and a large queso, which we absolutely expected to pay for.
I stepped over to the cashier and I asked the cashier if they would substitute the queso cheese on the steak bowl since they were out of shredded cheese. She said we always charge for queso. When I asked if they would make an exception and substitute the queso for cheese on the steak bowl this time since they were out of shredded cheese, she rolled her eyes at me and ignored me. I walked over to a guy who was poking and prodding the food with a temperature gauge and asked him if he was the manager. He was. I let him know that I felt it was wrong to charge a customer for trying to substitute something for a basic item that is expected on nearly every Mexican food dish. When I brought this up to the manager he offered me a bag of chips, which I informed him I had already bought. I asked him to do the right thing and not charge me for queso & he did nothing. Heck he could of instead of giving us an extra bag of chips, he could have refunded us for them. He looked like I had asked for the combination to the store safe. I was looking for him to do something. Instead of refunding me for the free bag of chips, which I suggested the manager looked at me like I had 3 heads.
The customer isn't always right but we get the privilege of voting with our wallets.
I will not be back anytime soon, as I feel completely disrespected, taken advantage of and that this is not the way to make up for your outage items. If you're out of cheese either offer queso free of charge, something else to make up for missing a basic staple to your menu items or deduct the price of cheese off the item. You lost a loyal customer over a $1.70 & 2 very bad attitudes. I just spent $33 but the $1.70 costs you repeat business. We live close by and our family will...
Read moreThis is an ok Chipotle. It seems like this one has trouble getting employees. Most of the employees are very good/excellent but here but some employees look at you like they want you to know they are not happy to be here and are doing you a huge favor preparing your food. No comparison to this store and the Chipotle Lane on 32nd and Bell as far as employee friendliness and competency (the Bell employees are tremendous -- know your name, smiles a plenty and super efficient). My main beef though is really a lack of beef and other ingredients you get when ordering through the app. I have ordered probably 5 or so times the last month and am constantly getting skimped on portions when comparing it to the 32nd and Bell location. I am a bit peeved at myself for ordering through the app today --- I know better, because if you go through the line here, the portions are good. But you prepare your day to get a certain amount of food, and then when you get skimped, you need to eat another meal which takes more time out of your day. Hopefully, they read this and start giving out portions that are consistent with every other Chipotle I have visited. I am a Chipotle fan (100 bowls a year) but this has been a frustrating situation for about 6 months now. This is my "home field" Chipotle and countless times I have gone 10 miles out of my way to the Bell location because the quality, portions and overall experience at the Scottsdale/Greyhawk store is...
Read moreThis is the third time we come to this location at 9:15pm (they close at 10pm) and the workers are already in checkout mode. No utensils, no drinks available because they had already cleaned it out for the night. Food was served cold the past two times, employees claimed that they had ran out of white rice, black beans, chicken already and they were done for the night (one of them was already cleaning the grill and sit them off. When asked if I could get a lemonade they also claimed they were not refilling the drink station. Two other clients complained about their food being cold and their request was received almost as inconvenient. We were not the only ones at the store, there was actually a line of at least 8 people also wanting to get food like us. Very poor customer service and respect for the store hours posted on their door and website. A lot to say about their management, operations and customer service improvement. I’m actually posting this review right now so you can see what time truly is (I...
