I wish i could have given this place 5 stars and would have until the last hour and a half when a shift change of doctors and nurses happened. The intake and front desk ladies were amazing amd me being from out of town in a ton of pain and scared made me feel at ease. The 1st doctor I had Dr. Stapleton was amazing. He kept me up to date with everything he was going to do and what could possibly cause my extream pain in my lower abdomen. He saw the amount of pain I was in and sadly also saw how nauseated I was as well and did everything he could to keep me comfortable on both ends. My nurse Hayden was also so sweet and so amazing keeping the doctor up to date with all the check ins she was doing with me. At no point did I ask them for pain medication, when i gave them the number 8 or higher they would give me medication to help it go down. There was something seen on my CT scan so they wanted to do an ultrasound and Eric was amazing as well trying to make it as pain-free as he could. Which was no easy task because it was terrible. By the time I got back from ultrasound my nurse saw how much pain I was in after being poked and prodded by ultrasound and requested my medicine be put in again to keep me comfortable while we waited for results. This is when the shift change happened and the new Dr. Jonas denied that request and wanted results which could have taken an hour. When results from ultrasound came back he tried to make it sound like I was being dramatic and should just be able to go home and be perfectly fine. When he was telling me my discharge instructions he basically rushed through it and tried to send me away with no medicine to help with pain or nausea. I asked if there was any way he could write something a little stronger so I could get through this pain the next 2 days until I fly back home. He rolled his eyes at me and treated me like I was a drug seeker and said I can only give you 4 to 6 pills of stronger than tylenol (which is the only OTC pain relief I can take). A new nurse i did not catch his name came in asking about what pharmacy I wanted it sent to and when I explained I'm not from here just a CVS close by will work He gave me an attitude and said that there is a walgreens close by but nothing is 24hours. When I explained I needed CVS for insurance he made a loud sigh and asked if I knew of any near where I was staying. I gave him the address of my hotel and also started looking on my phone when he walked out. He eventually came back and told me he found a CVS close to me but it doesn't open until the morning. I asked since I was still in pain from my ultrasound if I could possibly get a dose before leaving the hospital to get me through the night for nausea as well. He sighed rolled his eyes walked out came back after 10 seconds and said you've already had enough pain medication and nausea medication since you have been here you can wait until the morning. Dr. Jonas and the nurse that took over from Dr. Stapleton did not make me feel comfortable and felt like I was basically being accused of being there just to get pain medication like a drug addict. As I said in the beginning of this long review I felt heard, informed, safe, and like the Dr cared and wanted to keep his patient as comfortable as possible. In The last hour and a half my diagnosis was downplayed because it was a woman's thing, my pain was basically written off completely and I was made to feel like a drug addict. I left this hospital in my Uber crying from not only my pain but how I was treated. There are amazing doctors and nurses that work there but when you go from them to one who makes you feel like a pill seeker who is inconveniencing him because they are in pain, peeing blood and wanting to throw up from a legitimate thing that 2 scans showed but is obviously there...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDO NOT GO HERE. AT ALL COSTS. SAVE YOUR LOVED ONES. THESE ARE ENVITA HATERS & THERE IS NO TEAM - EVERY DOCTOR IS ONLY CONCERNED WITH THEIR OWN AREA OF SPECIALTY - NO ONE IS ON THE SAME PAGE. I can't help but keep thinking, "DEATH TRAP. THEY SPED UP MY MOM'S DEATH. DO NO GO HERE." HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE experience. My mom died in the ICU under the care of Dr. Till. I'm haunted by our experiences there, having nightmares every night. THIS IS NO WAY TO DIE!!! The woman down the hall kept screaming, "THEY'RE TRYING TO KILL ME!" & we can't help but think she was right. The nursing staff, I'd say, 1 out of 5 were actually compassionate/loving & actually LISTENING to the needs of the patient. The others were simply there to gossip, be on their phone with their legs up, & look pretty as they monitored nothing but drugs. Thank you to the Nurses that actually took the time to love on my Mom, clean her up, & give her constant hope/love. We were told multiple times that my Mom was just there to get a "tune up". They found a blockage in her upper GI tract & after multiple requests, they still did not even ATTEMPT to scope her, despite being able to monitor the blood pressure meds. Then, the day she died, the Cardiologist, Dr. Agrawal, came in to tell us directly that my Mom was making a turn around - "she'll be out of the ICU in a few days, into a regular hospital room, & out by a week; stronger with PT/Nutrition & better by August." - ALL WHILE SHE LAY THERE UNCONCIOUS FROM THE CENTRAL LINE INFUSION OF ATIVAN THE EVENING BEFORE. She could not even SPEAK after that deadly Benzo. All I keep hearing in my head is "Justice" & coming to your hospital was a huge mistake. This is one of very little reviews I have ever made in my life time, but the most valuable one. DR. TILL - GET OUT OF MEDICINE. YOU ARE NOT HELPING PEOPLE GET BETTER. & I can only imagine that you are paid to help them die. The only Doctor I will honor in this situation is my past Client/friend, Dr. SHAH - GI Doctor also covering my Mom's case over the weekend. She just happened to be there & thank goodness. Also, the ER Team was fast, efficient, & got my Mom the immediate care she needed. other than that, the other GI Doctor did not even know what was going on, either, as she came to us with a hopeful message that was no where near the reality. the day my Mom had her NG Tube removed is the same morning I got a call from Dr. TILL, "your Mom ripped out the NG tube & is going downhill!" UM EXCUSE ME??? THANK GOODNESS I GOT THE REAL STORY FROM MY MOM - WHO HAD HER BEST DAY ON MONDAY AFTER THE NURSES REMOVED THE TUBE. It seems Dr. TILL COULDN'T WAIT until she was gone!!! THEN AFTER A BLOOD READING - the pH levels were changing... so I had to remind them that my Mom gets her lungs drained. WHY DID I HAVE TO REMIND THEM??? "Thank you for reminding me about the Thorocentesis - I was so focused on the GI issues, I forgot about that," said Dr. TILL. UM WHAT? YOU FORGOT HOW TO KEEP MY MOM BREATHING & ALIVE????? all they kept trying to do was convince my Mom & us to not have her on a breathing machine or life support, yet everything you were doing or not, delt like it anyway. then the final "cocktail of death" - ATIVAN & MORPHINE - takes away from a person's actual death experience. you strip people of their wishes/autonomy. As a family, we are glad we are off the Rollercoaster of "care" you give. It is not care. Maybe you helped my Mom live a few days longer, maybe not. Either way - PEOPLE WILL REMEMBER HOW YOU MAKE THEM FEEL - NOT WHAT YOU DO OR SAY. & you have a lot of work to do in this department. Once again, if Envita or anyone suggests going here, run in the opposite direction - you'll probably live longer & with actual...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOne night in March of 2021 I called the ambulance which rushed me to the ER. I was admitted after a few tests and it'd be another 4 days before they understood what was wrong with me, but in the meantime I was given 5 blood transfusions and 1 iron transfusion. I managed to get about an hour of sleep when a doctor dressed in a sharp 3-piece suit woke me up and introduced himself letting me know he was my hematologist and had canceled my upcoming appointment. He went on to say that I was very lucky. Had I arrived later that same day I would have been DOA.
I owe my life to the doctors and staff at Honor Health Thompson Peak who saved my life a total of 3 times over the next two months. The 2nd time was after the diagnosis that sent me to the ICU for a few days and another when I came back to Honor Health Thompson Peak as a result of a quick thinking nurse at the skilled nursing facility.
With the exception of one nurse on the 3rd floor during my 1st visit to the hospital, I found all the doctors, nurses and nurse assistants very professional and full of compassion. A special thanks to Dr. Kara Asbury and Nurses Alyssa and Danny. Danny, you looked over me while I was on the 3rd floor and you were caring and compassionate. Alyssa, you made it so much easier to be back in the hospital (this time on the 2nd floor) and showed genuine compassion and your care was top notch. I could not ask for better nurses and staff. A special thanks to the Physical Therapy staff as well. I admit I was not an easy patient the first time I was there since I also had a lot of swelling on my left knee, but after the swelling subsided during my 2nd stay, you worked with me on a daily basis to get me to walk up to 150 feet with the walker. I only had 1 issue with a nurse during my first stay and after that Danny was my nurse until I had gone to the ICU. When I returned from the ICU I was on the 2nd floor.
The food was okay and I lost a lot of weight but they made sure I had sufficient protein and watched my carbohydrate intake. Had I known what lay ahead for me at the skilled nursing facility I would have preferred to stay in the hospital but once you're well enough to be cared for elsewhere your time is up at the hospital.
The chaplain provided me with a copy of the New Testament which I read on a daily basis. At the time I did not know if I was going to live or die, so the chaplain worked with my priest to allow him to perform a special service and Holy Communion (similar to last rights in other faiths). I spent a few days making my own funeral arrangements because I thought I was going to die. I had some difficult days when no one knew what I had and a very difficult conversation with my Mom who lived far enough away that I didn't know if I would ever see again. I thank the Lord for watching over me and for watching over the staff at the hospital who figured out what was wrong and set me on the path of being healed. The staff have such a difficult job and with the pandemic even much harder, and they do their jobs with smiles on their face. Alyssa, I truly owe you more than I can ever repay you, so a big thank-you from the bottom of my heart.
I stayed overnight as a patient at Honor Health Thompson Peak for a total of 26 days with a 15-day stay at a skilled nursing facility in...
