Absolute joke of an order and response from Pei Wei at Grayhawk. Ordered 5/16 at 6:18pm. Their website was offering a free shipping as a promotion (I normally pick up). Estimated arrival of 7:07pm, for a 4.2 mile delivery. No contact from store ever.
At 7:30pm, it showed it had not even been picked up, sat on hold for 19 minutes, then kicked over to a VM. Sat on hold again for 19 minutes than sent to VM. Left 2 VM. No response from store. Store than closed at 8pm before the food even arrived. Driver sent a message at 7:30pm stating he had been there 30 minutes, still no order.
Delivery driver shows up at 8:18pm, with a complete wrong order. Store is closed, nothing I can do. Driver even stated how nuts it was at the location. State people were getting upset at the location.
Spoke to manager next morning (5/17) about a refund. He took down my info and said he would process it. Never once stated anything about the delivery service being at fault and contacting them.
1.5 weeks later (today is 5/28), nothing. Spoke to a manager today, who said it is not their fault, it is the fault of the delivery service. Mind you, Peiwei.com is where this order came from, they sub contract Doordash. I made no contact to door dash, this is peiwei's sub contract. Manager doesn't believe that an order could be wrong as it was, blames delivery. I state I dont even have a door dash account, I ordered from PerWei.com, that is not my issue. Manager on phone doesn't seem to care, more interested in my words "worthless manager" (who took my info and told me he would process a refund, but that is not their policy according to this manager). He then hung up the phone on me.
It gets better, I now have contacted DoorDash Escalations department (per today's manager), they reached out to the Grayhawk location. The Doordash employee said they were processing refund to same manager, he said he would not refund as he has nothing to do with it and hung up on them. Great manager. I wish I had the name, I even asked the DoorDash Escalations member if she got the name, she said she did not either.
Wont be ordering anymore from PeiWei at Grayhawk location...
Read moreMy family has eaten here for over 20 years. The only thing consistent with this location is the incremental decline in the quality of food and service. Orders are constantly made wrong, most food items are not of consistent quality, high employee turnover, and despite this the prices keep going up. People answering the phone get more rude and impatient every year, those working the counter inside are busier playing on their phones than they are doing their job, and the food quality has drastically decreased from what it once was. This place has become a fast food restaurant without the drive-thru window. I would give this place a higher rating if it had a drive-thru window, because then at least I am getting what I pay for. We continue to eat here because it is the closest "Asian-inspired restaurant" to the house, and the food is still semi-palatable despite the obvious decline in flavor, quality, and affordability. Pei Wei charges high prices for an overall low-quality experience, and we won't be recommending this specific location to anyone we know. Leaving this review finally after many years of dissatisfaction. This negative review has been hard-earned by the Grayhawk Plaza Pei Wei location. Also, please bring back the old school orange peel chicken (your best dish). Hopefully the right person sees this and does something about the disappointment that this Pei Wei has become.
EDIT: I was told to report this to the website below from the "owner" and yet I have still not heard back about my complaint nor has the issue been addressed. What is the point of a review and sending in a complaint if no one will respond or show that they actually care about the poor service and negative experience? The review I left should be a 1-star review given the lack of care and consideration they actually show to...
Read moreThis is a sweet and sour chicken bowl (see attached picture) with extra meat. As you can see not much in the meat department. What's more, what there is of it was terrible. The chicken tasted freezer burned, and the batter had swelled away from the chicken giving it a gooey texture. the rice was dry and and had a burnt taste to it. I've never been to a Chinese restaurant that couldn't cook rice before! I also had the crab wontons. Unfortunately, these weren't very good either. Typically I expect crab wontons, crab puffs, crab rangoon, whatever you want to call it ,to be a sweet cream cheese with finely chopped crab meat mixed-in, wrapped in a wonton. These however where coarsely chopped crab meat or something appearing to be crab meat wrapped in a wonton, yuck! I would like to note however, the employees were very friendly, and the fortune cookies were quite good. Some time ago Pei Wei changed its name to Pei Wei Test Kitchen, and clearly they have more tests...
