Went in for Easter Brunch- food was awesome despite a power outage beyond their control, they saved the day. We enjoyed everything, ranging from prime rib and ham to omelettes, waffles, fruit and I had a really good croissant (still thinking about it - seriously the best one I have ever had, and I am a carb addict).
My biggest issue was not the food, the staff, or anything like that but the RUDE PEOPLE! There were 2 Easter egg hunts scheduled for 11 and 1 for kids.
The parents of 3 older kids (I would guess ages 9-12 or 13) obviously didn't give a care about ANYone else, because they let their 3 bratty kids run everywhere and take all of the eggs BEFORE THE HUNT STARTED. I mean, these kids cleaned house in 2 seconds flat. When the Manager or Owner (not sure who) brought the nice, big easter baskets around to pick up eggs with (and keep) they snatched them.
The poor little kids had zero chance... so then the Easter Bunny (kudos to the guy in the hot bunny suit, it was the best bunny suit I have seen and had to be warm), owner, and staff had to try to slyly hide more eggs because apparently 70 eggs per spoiled brat child at that corner booth were not enough. (I noticed all this because I was directly across from them).
The Bunny brought us two baskets filled with eggs and goodies in them.
It reminded me of that news story where the parents went nuts at the egg hunt. This was the bratty kid version! Way to uphold the "Bratty Scottsdale attitude" perception people have - it's because of people like you!
So my disappointment has NOTHING to do with food, drinks, or service, but more of the poor attitudes and manners of both parents and kids I saw running rampant. They really give meaning to the generalization of "Entitled Scottsdale" which really isn't true. But thanks for embodying that nasty perception, moms and dads -- your kids had zero manners and that's a direct reflection on you. Yeah, you. I heard you complaining about dumb stuff, LOL. The people behind me were annoyed they had to wait 7 minutes for a freshly made Belgian Waffle and an Omelette with like 72 ingredients (seriously the guy wouldn't stop adding stuff to this omelette order).
For $49 per adult and only $15 for a kid, including brunch, bottomless mimosas, 2 easter egg hunts including easter baskets AND the Easter Bunny walking around and taking photos (oh and giving out gifts, little bracelets, mazes, fuzzy chicks, stickers, tattoos... my kids were THRILLED), I think these snotty people would have been better off paying the $119 the Phoenician was charging and $55 for a 3 year old! lol.
TBH, the people watching was something else... I'm not sure what people expect for a brunch. I'm sure for $119 they are serving gold bars straight up at the Phoenician. :P
I'll be back B&B, just wish that guests had better manners. I truly feel bad for people in the service industry many times. People are just plain jerks. I've been on both sides of the card - as the guest and as a server - and sometimes I guess you just can't please anyone. The bratty parents' and bratty guests next to me were the only downside to...
Read moreWe have been here a many times prior to this experience the evening of 1/24/25. We consider it a special treat to go here. It is our dinning place for our family to celebrate bigger events. We have been coming here for at least 4 years. Last night was disappointing 😔.
Let's talk about the food first. It was just OK. Not at the same level as other times we have been here. We always have the Calamari and it was just OK. It was a bit overcooked and the portion seemed smaller and breading seemed heavier than all our prior visits. The Combo fried rice was also disappointing, and we order this every time we are here. It was more like white rice that they put soy sauce on last minute and topped with a little bit of meat. There was not one egg. Scant, and I mean SCANT, slivers of carrots and a few green onion pieces. It was salty but otherwise flavorless. We ordered the Spicy chicken, and there was minimal spice and it was ordered with fried rice but we received white rice instead. We tried the chicken and rice soup for the first time and the flavors was good, we liked it but it was cool temperature wise, I like my soup served hot. Also we felt it needed more rice. We also had The Baller, another item we Always order. It was ordered as my daughter's entree for her 13 th Birthday Dinner. We came on her birthday, her choice because of the calamari and this sushi roll. It was served almost 5 minutes after our other hot entrees from the kitchen. This made no sense, since we had appetizers, so there was plenty of time to make it.
Atmosphere - the booth we sat in by the far wall, not far from the kitchen was uncomfortable. It was tight, and we are Not big people. The cushion was not supportive at all. The music ended several times for periods of time.
Service - We had never had Erica as a server. She was nice but unfortunately slow and not accurate. We waited almost 20 minutes to order our food. She put the drinks down at the wrong people despite saying what she was putting down was correct, it was infact the opposite once each person took a sip. She also entered pot stickers instead of calamari and when pot stickers came out they had to find her and she did not take ownership of this error, tried to play it off as a expediter error. How do we know? She gave us a bill with both the pot stickers and the calamari on it. She did not catch this and when we asked for it to be removed her reply was, they were supposed to take that off. It would have been better for her to check the bill before presenting it. Had we not checked it we would have ended up paying for something we did not order and did not receive.
One other aside, at another table a man's coat had fallen off his chair and the servers walked by it over and over again, as it was close to the kitchen, and did not tell the man or pick it up. I went over after a bit and let him know and picked it up.
We did not see a manager the whole time we were there. Usually this has NOT been our experience. We did not make a fuss as our daughter asked us not to. We enjoyed our special time together for her birthday but definitely were...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Ling & Louie's, and I must say it was a gastronomic journey that left me thoroughly impressed. The star attractions of my meal were the Spicy Jeweled Beef and Beef Kung Pao, both of which were not only bursting with flavor but also generously portioned.
The Spicy Jeweled Beef was a delightful symphony of flavors. Each bite was a perfect balance of spiciness, sweetness, and a hint of savory goodness. The beef was cooked to perfection – tender and succulent, while the medley of colorful vegetables added a visual and flavorful treat to the dish. The combination of spices used in the marinade created a memorable taste that lingered on my palate, making each mouthful a delightful experience.
Equally impressive was the Beef Kung Pao, a dish that showcased the artistry of Ling & Louie's culinary team. The tender chunks of beef were complemented by a rich and complex Kung Pao sauce, featuring the perfect blend of soy, vinegar, and just the right amount of heat. The inclusion of crunchy peanuts and crisp vegetables added both texture and depth to the dish, elevating it to a truly satisfying culinary experience.
What stood out beyond the delectable flavors was the portion size. Ling & Louie's did not skimp on generosity. The servings of both the Spicy Jeweled Beef and Beef Kung Pao were ample, ensuring that I not only enjoyed the taste but also left the restaurant feeling completely satisfied.
The ambiance of Ling & Louie's was another highlight of my dining experience. The warm and inviting atmosphere, coupled with attentive service, enhanced the overall enjoyment of the meal.
In conclusion, my visit to Ling & Louie's was a culinary delight, with the Spicy Jeweled Beef and Beef Kung Pao stealing the spotlight. If you're looking for a restaurant that delivers on both flavour and portion size, Ling & Louie's is a must-visit. I wholeheartedly recommend trying these dishes for an unforgettable dining experience that tantalizes the taste buds and leaves you...
