Best meal in the Americas! Been to chain and family owned rodizios restaurants (table side meat service of over 10 plus kinds of meat) in North and Central America and Ipanema Grill is the best meal you will ever have the luck to experience! Amazing meats and treasure trove of chef made hot, cold sides, endless shrimp, soup and salads have always been a white table cloth experience. After the renovation, the space has risen and matches the long standing level of outstanding food and service! What is your favorite bite? As of last night, it was the garlic picanha and salt rock ribeye! Besides the never ending table side meats, Ipanema is the best option for vegetarians as the delicious smorgsboard of sides, think brown sugar glazed carrots, cauliflower au gratin, fresh green salads as well as savory ones like garlic pasta, fresh beets with pomegranate seeds, fresh mozzarella and Brazilian cheese bread with too many more to name may be ordered as its own meal and always come with the delectably grilled selection of meats. Why go to a steak restaurant for one overpriced steak when for the same price you may have endless types of steak and meats with never ending sides in a family owned white table cloth restaurant that is impeccable. Ipanema Grill hosted by Douglas and his family could be home in any metropolitan city in the world, however, we are lucky enough that the two hour drive to Scranton each way is done with salivating anticipation on the way and glorious resplendent satisfaction on the way home. Eating with your eyes closed to savor each luscious flavor is often witnessed and encouraged! Btw, I haven’t even mentioned the flaming table side Nutella crepes with ice cream delivered in song by Douglas and staff for those special occasions. Support the American dream by spending your time and money on a fine dining experience with Douglas and his hard working family who put their time, love and energy into giving you a life affirming memorable experience Do yourself a favor and make a reservation while you still can for Ipanema Grill! Read moreI had been to this restaurant before with my family and had a good experience, so I decided that this was the place I wanted to take my girlfriend to before I move away for my freshman year of college. Staff seemed friendly at first, and the food was absolutely amazing (was going to give 2 stars instead of 1 because of that, but what happened towards the end of the night ruined it for my date and I), but the service was just not there. Our waitress was no where to be found after she sat us down and got us drinks. We had got there around 7, and around 745 we were just about done, but the staff serving the rodizio had asked us if we had not gotten something on the menu, to which we replied yes, and that we would like to try the sirloin. For about 25 minutes, we watched every other table continue to be served as we sat there with no one even coming to ask us for anything. After everyone else had been finished at the restaurant, they stopped bringing out any food and that is when I just decided to get the bill. I had to basically yell across the restaurant for a man who was cleaning up to just get us our bill because no one had even come over to us for a half hour. I would love to recommend this restaurant because again the staff was very friendly, the restaurant has a nice romantic look to it, and we were having a great time, but unfortunately we weren't even waited on for drinks and what happened at the end completely ruined our experience. I would have loved not to tip (maybe we didn't get service because they thought we didn't have a lot of money because we looked younger? who knows. But that is far from the truth!) but I worked in a restaurant and I understand that the staff makes a living off it. But it didn't keep me from writing on my check how the service was not great, and leaving a small amount. My advice: get a reservation early, because once they decide to stop making food I guess that's...
Read moreI went with a 15 person bachelor party. I called Douglas, the owner operator (I believe, but for sure he was the man with the plan), a week or so before. I changed the reservation time and the quantity on him several timesas bachelor parties tend to do, Douglas handled with grace and poise. Finally we made it, oh my, the smells. When we walked in we were immediately hit with the smells of pure meat cooking delight. We knew that we were in for some tasty treats. We were immediately greeted by Douglas himself, he was warm and friendly, like we were old friends. He staff sat us and explained the way they operate to us and we began our culinary journey. Each meat was cooked better than the last, with perfect seasoning and herb usage the flavors can through. Last curveball, it was a bachelor/birthday celebration. Douglas and his staff brought out a shot of liquor from the native Brazil, he wished our bachelor/birthday boy success and wealth. THIS BEAUTIFUL GESTURE TRULY MADE OUR EXPERIENCE.
If you're planning an event in or around d Scranton AND you eat meat, this is a must.
One of the gentlemen in our expansive group seemingly acted foolish by consuming almost an entire package of potato buns just prior to coming. He then ate more meat than Joey Chestnut. If anyone in your group acts foolish they will still leave the Ipanema...
