I would really like to give my honest review of the ice cream here at Manning's on Meadow Ave in Scranton, but as I pulled in at 9:47, the two girls who worked here were already chatting in front of the store with the one making the last quarter turn of the key to lock the front doors. Now I live in West Scranton, very near their store on Main Ave. I usually go there for my ice cream, but I was mistaken about their hours tonight, and I got there at 9:37, seven minutes after they shut their doors, which must have been very near the time, as they were mops in hand right behind the glass front door.. They were so polite as I showed them my boo boo lip, which they returned with sad faces đ˘. Really wanting ice-cream, I made the ride through Scranton, straight up Lackawanna Ave to Moosic Street to Meadow Ave to the front doors of Manning's Ice-cream store in Exactly 10 minutes, only to find the scene I described above. Two stores, separated by 10 minutes and two very different work crews.. I'll bet the future success of the West Scranton girls with all the faith in the world. It all hinges on how one handles their responsibilities when no one is looking. The lesson that should be learned here is that someone is always looking. I'll be back sometime, looking for an ice cream, but my experience has shown me I need only look to the store in West Scranton, and the mature and responsible girls who work...
Read moreMind you that the Mannings that I have frequented multiple times in the past was in Kingston, so I had a certain level of expectation. I walk in and was greeted right away by the young lady cleaning the counter, the other two were busy. As I am standing in line patently waiting my turn (only one person in front of me , yay Iâm number two) a family of 4 walked in and started perusing the ice cream flavors. The one young lady who was doing something comes over and helps the family. Wait. I was number two. Oh well no worries for I am in no rush. A young gentleman comes in behind said family followed shortly by a young lady who then commenced to start talking to one of the staff members. Again nothing of it. Hold on, the staff member is now making some sort of dairy product. Familyâs now gone as well as the first person in front of me and what is this, his server took the other guys order. Now itâs a bit much. He is done and finally itâs my turn to order and pay wait for the other group of people who came and got their things and payed for it individually. So moral of the story is happy to be number two less happy to be treated like a...
Read moreIâm trying to say this as nicely as possible because the three girls working were young but they completely ignored basic sanitary practices when it comes to food handling last night and it was so gross.
One girl (who said she was new) was busy licking a dripping ice cream cone while a line started to form. While she ate her ice cream, she also helped check out another girls customer for her. Handling the cash in one hand, cone in the other.
Then she set her cone down, DID NOT WASH HER HANDS , and came over to serve me and my friend. I shouldâve said something but I had feeling it would not have been well received. The eating the ice cream cone thing while ignoring customers wouldnât have been enough for me to care to leave a review (weâve all been there when working a part time job itâs whatever ) but sticking your hand in an ice cream cooler and touching ice cream cones after handling cash without washing your hands is crazy work.
Please make sure someone on shift can properly train the newbies so they understand basic...
