The only reason they even get one star is due to the fact that my first impression was the smell of fresh donuts. It all went down hill from there. The gentleman behind the counter didn't say hello of any kind or even ask what we wanted?!?! After explaining that we would like a large coffee (out of a pump-thermos) and 2 plain cake donuts, I paid as my Girlfriend went to sit down only briefly with her bag while I was attempting to wait for the restroom to wash my hands after noticing that another guy went in just before us assured me I could use it afterwards considering we were paying customers and he just went straight for the restroom. While I waited the man working behind the counter says " You go outside" at first I didn't realize my girlfriend was already outside so I responded with " we weren't planning on staying, I'm just waiting to wash my hands" with no response. Next my gf comes in to replace the coffee because she dropped it outside (far off the lot I might add) his only response was "you go outside" At this same time I found the bathroom door to be locked, yet the man had came out. This is when it all came to light, we were simply being stereotyped as homeless due to my hiking pack and gear. Now whether we were homeless or not was beside the point, we were paying customers and had every right as the next person. Long story short he refused me the right to access the restroom (just to wash my hands before I eat DONUTS I might add) and even though we were more than willing to pay for the replacement coffee, that was refused also. How can you possibly mess up a...
Read moreUnbelievably light raised doughnuts beyond perfection…compared to the Doughnut of the Year winner I was fortunate to experience about 9 years ago. The place is so unimpressive and nondescript. I only stopped out of coffee desperation and weakened for a doughnut from which I only expected over-sweetened gluten. I was shocked at the airy fluffiness of the raised doughnut I selected. I couldn’t believe it was real. I returned a week later and got two. Same marvelous experience. I asked where they got their doughnuts and the old guy said they “Make here.” Still dubious I returned a third time and tripled my happy experimentation. Weeks later after too much exclamation to the housemates, I brought a dozen home for their assessment. Doughnut glory confirmed and all agreed with my praise. However… We’re all out of luck until they finish renovations (see attached pic). No reopening date was posted....
Read moreThese are yeast donuts, which seem hard to find in Seattle where cake donuts seem to be the preference. Donuts are always fresh, kolaches are on point (and I'm from TX), and they always put one or two donut holes in my bag for the road. Their sandwiches are also good. They have tea & boba which are as you'd expect, and they also have a cold case if you want energy drinks, soda, milk, or water. I've gotten a latte and mocha here before, and both times it tasted like the espresso was burnt (that could be a simple fix and they didn't realize the grind was off). Overall, good food, kind service, and atmosphere feels like a small...
