What an incredibly unique dining experience! The Derby and The Shop offers something you won’t find anywhere else in Seattle - the chance to dine surrounded by classic cars in their storage area. We hosted a private party here and were blown away by both the atmosphere and the food. The venue is perfect for special events. The car storage setting creates an unexpectedly cool and fun backdrop that had our guests talking all night. It’s industrial yet welcoming, making for great conversation starters and photo opportunities. The food definitely lived up to the unique setting. The appetizers during our cocktail hour were excellent quality and well-presented. For dinner, the chicken and waffles were absolutely outstanding - perfectly crispy chicken with fluffy waffles that hit all the right notes. The bulgogi lettuce wraps were another standout, offering fresh, flavorful Korean-inspired bites with tender, well-seasoned meat. Service was attentive throughout our event, and the staff handled our private party seamlessly. If you’re looking for a memorable dining experience that combines great food with an automotive twist, The Derby and The Shop delivers. Highly recommended for anyone wanting something different from the typical Seattle...
Read moreDO NOT go to the general restaurant area to watch F1 races. They advertised watching Miami GP here but it wasn’t worth it at all.
-They played the race with no volume at all, could not hear any commentary whatsoever.
-All the screens cut out in the climax of the race and it took them awhile to reboot them.
-Poor seating reservations. We waited a long time to be greeted by the hostess and our originally reserved table wasn’t even ready yet. When we initially made a reservation, we specified that we wanted to watch the F1 race and asked specifically for a TV view. When we arrived, they proceeded to give us a table that was far from all the TV screens and acted as if this was our only option. We had to beg the hostess to seat us instead at a different table that hadn’t been bussed yet. This whole process took so long that we missed the beginning of the race. Which is extremely annoying when you know how important the start is to races. The staff just seemed to have no awareness of the race or catering to the fans who went in to specifically see it today.
The rest of the service was fine. But not coming in here again.
In short, despite the car theme, pick another bar to watch F1. They don’t really care about it...
Read moreHad been coming here on Fridays with some co-workers since we work in Sodo, and would rave about how awesome it was.
One Friday after work different small groups from the office came through, and suddenly we had an unplanned large group for happy hour. Thankfully, they weren’t busy and in fact, employees were sitting on the coaches when we arrived, name tags on, talking. Immediately, staff appeared annoyed that we were there, despite it being virtually empty (the hostess was sitting on the table). I was embarrassed that I raved about this place, and we were treated so incredibly poorly.
At one point, the Manager came over and asks ‘ who’s in charge here?’ Being a large group of adults, my peer said, well, we all are? He asks, did you have a reservation? We let him know that we just came for Happy Hour ( it was 4:15pm ) and didn’t plan on this, let alone make a reservation. The rest of the time, the staff kept turning and pointing at our group, and only had 1 poor employee helping us. As some working professionals from the area, we will never be coming back here. I was mortified how even the next week, our whole department couldn’t stop talking about how awful that experience was, and why did I...
