There once was a… I’m kidding. This is a cute little German deli pumping out some high quality food. Today I had the chicken pesto panini and the “Nick and Nora” panini. Cost for the two half sandwiches was a little over $20. The question becomes… we’re the sandwiches worth the cost. Half sandwich is $9 and a whole is $13. So, I’ll judge this based on those prices, today I wanted to try two new ones. Is it worth $20, no… I can only think of two in all the world that are. Is it worth buying a whole of either for $13, YES! They are both delicious. The reason I know of husky deli was because of the ice cream, and this never disappoints. Today we had caramel 🤤… and I don’t know how much it costs, BECAUSE I DONT CARE 😂 They have a ton of stuff to try out, a lot of European candies, cookies, condiments, etc. I didn’t even mention the meat case. Even if you don’t live in West Seattle, it’s worth checking out.

I visited Husky Deli on a quiet Sunday morning and I was impressed with the selection and service. The space has a lot of things to choose from. It’s almost overwhelming seeing all of the different things in the store. As you enter there are a bunch of ice creams to choose from. There is a deli counter on the right where you can order cuts of meat or meals. There are chocolates and candies to choose from in other cases too. Throughout the store there are a lot of European foods to buy. A kind employee asked if we needed any help finding anything and while we didn’t at the time, she exuded kindness and hospitality. While I didn’t buy any of the foods on the shelves, I got an ice cream cone with a scoop of Raspberry Decadence – chocolate ice cream with raspberry ribbons. The ice cream was sumptuous and delicious. Husky Deli a West Seattle institution and I hope to return.

Went in to pick up a few sandwiches I called in. No one greeted me or asked if I was there for an order. Waited about 10 minutes by counter then noticed a sign taped to their table saying to wait outside for food orders and someone would bring out. They previously did this so I went outside. Another 15 minutes and no one came out. I kept looking in but no one asked me any questions. I finally went in to inquire and it had been sitting there for awhile behind the counter. I mentioned this to the employee that I'd been waiting and they didn't even acknowledge me and he didn't seem very interested in hearing it. After leaving I was still very disappointed in their service so I called and asked to speak to a manger. The employee who answered said he was the one who helped me so I asked to speak to someone else. Tony then got on the phone and also said he was a manager. I explained what happened and he said he had given me the sandwiches (both couldn't have). I told him I was not satisfied with the service nor the resolution and he said he "was sorry I was upset" but that wasn't their policy even though it was on taped on their surfaces in the store. I asked to speak to someone else more senior but he said "I'm part of the family and the only manager here". I had asked to speak to someone else even if the next day but he wouldn't give me any names or take my info to leave for a call back. Very disappointed in these boys behavior to a customer. I've been coming here for a long time and this was THE WORST service I've ever had. His response was more like he couldn't care less I took issue and had no interest in keeping a loyal customer. I'll be going to the new folks on the block since Husky seems to have lost all that was good about it before. Spend your money...

I FREAKING ADORE THIS PLACE. What isn't to love? The sandwiches are unparalleled - their ultimate grilled cheese is 💯 and my favorite z the grilled vegetarian with mushroom field roast, is the sandwich of my dreams. My SO and I come here far too often to be good for our waistlines, but we split a whole sandwich now so at least we are sort of being good?

On top of the sandwiches, their homemade ice cream is the best "traditional" ice cream in Seattle. Their shakes are perfection. Love that they started offering a smaller size so I can feel a little less guilty when I indulge.

But don't stop at the sandwiches and the ice cream. Keep going to the back of the store, where you will find an amazing selection of chocolate (and you can theoretically purchase some of that field roast if you are so inclined to attempt to recreate their vegetarian sandwich. I'm not sure I'm up to the task - I just buy it to make inferior sandwiches at home). We sneak back there from time to time and treat ourselves to their tasty truffles.

Last but not least - if they have scones, grab one when you are checking out with your sandwich. They're basically super tasty biscuits with jam inside. Yum.

This place is a neighborhood staple - and favorite - for a reason. They're always busy. Don't let that dissuade you though; you can order to-go on the phone and pick it up to save some time. It's our signature move: order, then walk over just in time for the sandwiches to be...

Husky Deli is a West Seattle staple (and it shows). The place is packed, nearly every day. Locals speak of it as if it's been there forever, because, it basically has been.

Most of the employees grew up here and take pride in their work. The Ice Cream is mostly great and made on the premises. They also sell it in bulk tubs to take home (for extremely reasonable prices). They offer generously-sized scoops and heavily-packed milkshakes. You never go away feeling ripped off, like you do at some of the newer parlors in Seattle.

They also offer a deli sandwich counter where you can order customized whole or half sandwiches (using mostly Boar's Head products from what I could see), along with homemade side salads and soups. There's seating facing the windows, at the front of the store, and a few tables outside on the sidewalk.

If you care about wine, they do have a fairly large selection in the back.

Definitely check this place out and grab a freshly made waffle cone full of your favorite flavor during a hot day. Just be sure you really love the flavor, because the scoops...
