I had made plans to go to Matador, down the street, with my family, but found out, while trying to enter with my kids, that it is a 21+ establishment. I ask the bartender if there were any Mexican restaurants nearby who served carne asada. She mentioned this restaurant. So my family and I find ourselves seated at this restaurant that looks outdated and is setup oddly inside. We order drinks and we get chips and salsa. The chips were warm and the salsa was good. I appreciated the chips being warm because not all restaurants do that and it really does make all the difference. I ordered carne asada and a quesadilla with black beans. The carne asada was ok. I felt like there could have been a little bigger portions of meat. They had a huge clump of lettuce with some shredded cheese under the guacamole? Not sure what the shredded cheese was about. I've never seen this at any other Mexican restaurant and it seems like a waste of cheese. The quesadilla I ordered had WAY too many black beans inside and made it difficult to eat. The slices were also large, which also made it difficult to eat and the guacamole was a dull green, like it had been sitting out too long. I left about half the quesadilla on the plate. After our experience and after reading through a lot of the reviews on this place I don't think we'll be back. The father of my children, who is Guatemalan, was...
Read moreThis place is great. Open early for breakfast with huge, cheap plates bigger than your head or your stomach. Your eyes will widen, and your mouth will water at a 9am 14oz(ish) steak and eggs, or the Mexican LocoMoco…. Saturday and Sunday when it’s quiet, like 8am, they will make you anything they have ingredients for… Breakfast burrito with three eggs, ham, onion, red and green bell peppers? No problem. The best BLT in West Seattle? YEP. Avocado Toast and bacon? Not a problem. And what does it cost? Well, it depends on what you order, but it’s probably better and less expensive than anything else in the neighborhood.
For dinner, I’m all about the pork or chicken enchiladas, but again the steak can rule supreme. Cooked to perfection with a full salad. I’m not kidding, these plates are massive! And delicious!
Seahawks game days are great with ridiculous food specials. $2 Tacos, Double bacon cheeseburgers for $7, and $3 cider pints. That burger is no joke either. Better cut it in half, because you’re taking some home. Best of all, the staff is money. Always happy, always personable, always attentive. Come in here, and you...
Read moreFirst off the staff of this restaurant was helpful and friendly hands down, but it's unfortunate that the food was below mediocre. Maybe cause it was New Year's Eve and the quality just plummeted, either way it was a last minute food choice and was very disappointing. We had ordered a tortilla soup that had chicken and fresh avocados. I don't know what went wrong with it but it was just not tasteful at all. I had to spit out the chicken and avocado. (Later that evening I got sick from it) . The server couldn't explain what the broth was made out of when i asked her and they did take it off our bill for which I was more than grateful for. The chips was freshly cooked which i always appreciate for any Mexican restaurant. I love that this restaurant is located in an area with so many other cute shops, brewery and other restaurants as well. Worth walking around and checking out for...
