Hidden gem in North Seattle at La Cabaña 📍606 N 105th St, Seattle, WA 98133 #seattlefood #eats #pnw

What a hidden gem! I’ve passed by this place numerous times, but haven’t given it a chance until this evening. This neighborhood Honduran restaurant is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic flavors and a welcoming atmosphere. The staff was incredibly friendly, making us feel welcomed. We ordered a variety of dishes, and everything was outstanding. The yuca fries were crispy and the perfect starter. The variety of pupusas were delicious — each one bursting with flavor. We also tried the Bistec Encebollado (Nicaragua) and Pollo Guisado (El Salvador), both cooked to perfection. The homemade tortillas were fresh and made all the difference. From the homemade hot sauce to the incredible green sauce, each one added a unique kick to the meal. Plus, they offer a great selection of draft and bottled beers to pair with your food. Generous portions, authentic flavors, and a warm, welcoming vibe—this spot is a winner. Can’t wait to come back!

The hype is all true. The food is outstanding. I've honestly never had better plantains ($8+). They come out hot and they are not soggy they are firm and naturally sweet. The guacamole ($4+) had a delicious richness to it and you could taste the garlic. The bandeja centroamericana platter ($25+) that my son had involved deep fried pork, Carne Asada, and the deep bright orange colored chorizo seemed homemade, but I cannot be sure. also on his platter were deep fried mashed potato croquettes that I don't know the name of it this time but I would really have those again. The baliades ($5+) I ordered came out hot with scrambled eggs, fresh avocado slices, delicious melted cheese, and they were filling. The two salsas that they were served with had nuanced and beautiful flavor and the hot actually had some very serious kick. Be prepared to eat well and leave satisfied.

To rate this restaurant based on quality of service and cleanliness, as well, 5 stars. For certain dishes (like camarones a la ranchera), I would give 5 stars. And, judging by the clientele, many agree especially those from Latin American countries. However the Salvadoran dish I had tonight was not well designed, in my opinion, I not only applaud ethnically authentic but nutritionally healthy, as well. I will only speak to the latter here, not being from El Salvador. Fried foods are basically unhealthy, yet we humans eat a lot of them. I think a good restaurant has the opportunity, dare I say the obligation to design nutritious plates. In that regard, I would give maybe 1 star tonight. But that is the fault of the customer, you say? Only partially, I answer. I am locked in to the balance (or lack thereof) of the plate. For $ 20 I should not have have to supplement with healthy (not overcooked) vegetables on the side. So, to my point, my dish tonight consisted of almost fried everything, and the chicharrón was OVER fried, making them even more carcinogenic. So, yes, I would return to this restaurant, but don't relay on them to put together healthy, balanced plates. It'll...

I can't recommend this place highly enough. The food was spectacular! My friends and I went on Saturday and had a culinary adventure. I love that the menu tells where the meals are from. I was particularly excited that they had a warm corn based drink that I fell in love with on a trip to Guatemala. My friends thought I was crazy for ordering it, but after they all tasted it they understood. It's called atole de elote. It has horchata like flavors. I highly suggest giving it a try.

I also got a Costa Rican dish with chicken, beans, rice, plantains and a delicious vinegary slaw salad with jalapenos. That meal was amazing! The best part of the meal was the freshly made tortillas that came along with it. I've thought of them at least twice a day since eating at here.

When we went it was PACKED. Lucky for us a table left and they quickly got us seated. It's decently loud/ lively in the restaurant. I was a bit too tired after a long day to even attempt to compete for my voice to be heard across the table. If your not ready for loudness get take out. But definitely go eat this food ASAP if you...

I started taking my little here on Tuesday nights, at the recommendation of my ex, who works nearby. Might not look like much from the outside but has a great, diverse menu. Even in the before times, their prices would have been good value for money but today I’m especially appreciative of the quality and quantity I get for my money. Whatever we order, there’s almost always enough to take home a second portion for each of us, so I have lunch for both of us the next day. I get a margarita too. It’s not a craft cocktail by any stretch but it’s a good size and scratch made and hits the spot. And the people who run the place are lovely and welcoming. Food arrives quickly and hot, so if you want a quick turn, at least at dinner time (i haven’t been at lunch time), you can order, eat and pay inside of 45 minutes. But if you’re not in a rush, sip your drink, watch some sports and enjoy the bustle going on around you. Hope you check it out and your experience is good as ours have been. I like spending my money with people who deliver great value with a smile and that’s what...
