One of the Worst Dining Experiences We’ve Ever Had — Deeply Offensive and Racist Behavior My wife and I went to this Greek restaurant in Seattle hoping for a warm, relaxing dinner. Instead, we were met with one of the most humiliating and infuriating experiences we’ve ever had at any restaurant. From the moment we walked in, the middle-aged blonde woman who appeared to be the owner greeted us with coldness and irritation. There was no welcome, no courtesy — only a visible sense that we were somehow not wanted there. She seated us without a word and left us waiting for nearly ten minutes before returning with the menus, which she dropped on the table without even looking at us. When she came to take our order, her tone was sharp, impatient, and dismissive. In the middle of us choosing our dishes — before we could even order drinks or dessert — she suddenly snatched the menu out of our hands and walked away without saying a word. When I calmly told her that we hadn’t finished ordering and still wanted to choose our drinks and dessert, she replied coldly, “That’s it,” and turned her back on us. At that point, the atmosphere felt openly hostile. Her behavior wasn’t just rude — it was contemptuous. And what made everything painfully clear was how differently she treated the tables around us. The middle-aged white men sitting at the table next to ours were greeted warmly, served quickly, and spoken to with kindness. The two white women at another table received the same respectful, friendly treatment. The contrast was undeniable. The only thing that set us apart was who we were — and it’s impossible not to call that what it is: racism.
We decided to cancel our order and leave immediately. When I told her we were leaving, she looked almost pleased, as if that was exactly the outcome she had hoped for. That look said everything. This wasn’t about a bad day or a misunderstanding — it was deliberate, discriminatory behavior that had no place in a city as diverse and supposedly progressive as Seattle.
If you’re looking for an evening that’s warm, respectful, or even remotely pleasant, stay far away from this place. There are many wonderful restaurants in Seattle where hospitality still means something. Sadly, this one is the opposite — toxic, unwelcoming, and shamefully...
Read moreI've been here five times and every time I get ignored. Tonight there was nobody in the restaurant in the hostess was sitting at the bar eating and she glanced over at me and went back to eating. Other nights it's busy and they still look over at me just to ignore me for several minutes. If a customer comes in or another driver comes in for their pickup order they are helped immediately with kindness out the yin yang. I get short answers and it sounds like it's a bother for me to even be there. Tonight I'm in the middle of my sentence telling the hostess, once she was finally done eating and able to come over to see why I was there, that I was there for a GrubHub and the customer name and she cuts me off mid-sentence to say wait a minute and goes into the kitchen to get the order. When she comes out the food is in the bag completely sideways and she's just holding it by the handle. I don't know what one of the items in this order is but I do know the other is a gyro which is a sandwich. It's in a folded pita bread so you would want to keep that flat or at the very least not completely upside down. But both items were just in the bag sideways and so while I don't know the state of these items I am pretty sure it's not very pretty. They don't care about their deliveries or at the very least not any of the ones I have ever picked up. Nine times out of 10 I get bad ratings because the quality of the order is subpar and of course a customer would assume that is because of their driver and I try to be quiet and not judge because you never know but after five different deliveries at this restaurant I do know confidently that they do not like me and I don't know why but they have chosen that I will suffer the consequences of their...
Read moreI will start by saying I am a driver, for one of the popular food delivery services, and my review will be solely based on my experience and not the food they serve.
I walked into the front door and was immediately in front of two other (seemingly) annoyed people who were sitting with their arms crossed.
I stood in the entryway for 7 minutes and wasn't greeted at all. Not by the lady who walked to the register then back to the kitchen about half way into the 7 minutes, not by the man who looked at me a few times from the bar area, nor by the man who was fixing some tables.
So.... I walked over to the kitchen area in an effort to get SOMEONES attention, no luck. The woman made another trip to the front counter but still didn't seem to notice that I was there.
Finally. After being there for more than 10 minutes at this time, I said, "Excuse me!??" To get the attention of a man who was standing (idlely) in the kitchen. I explained I was there to pick up an order, and he said, "Yeah, I know." I asked how long it would be until everything (two sandwiches) were ready, and he said he had no idea because they were busy. I asked if it was going to be just a few minutes, or if I would be waiting another 10-20 minutes and he yelled at me, telling me he had no idea because he was busy (standing there doing nothing....).
I ended up leaving and still had absolutely no interaction with the front of house staff.
I hope that customers who eat in store have a better experience then I did.
There are many places where I deliver food from who I visit when im off. This will not be one of them.
If you don't want to be available for delivery... Turn your station off. Don't be rude to people who are providing customer service to...
