Captain D's — Restaurant in Semmes

Betty is absolutely positively the best addition to Captain Ds.

The fish is generally good. My piece was over battered and disgusting, though.

The shrimp and lobster bites were deplorable. They are not food. They taste disgusting. They were the perfect example of bioengineered food being passed off as food. The lobster bites taste like imitation crab with lobster bullion. The shrimp, according to my daughter, look and taste like they took the unprocessed bile in the shrimp, mixed it with bullion and breading, shaped somewhat like shrimp, coated in more breading, and fried. The stuffed crab shell had no crabmeat. Captain Ds is disappointing as they are selling real food. It's too expensive for the food not to be real food. The hush puppies must have a new recipe. They were so dry that they could float in a beverage. The corn was overcooked and hard. Wtf. I work hard for my money and wasting it on what this restaurant chain is trying to pass off as food it trifling. It's unfortunate that the corporate office is not contacted via the app. All complaints are sent to local management. These restaurants will be closing for sure. That crap is not food. People are going to notice.

I have to say, I am rather disappointed. I used to love eating Captain D's. This one we walked in and the tension was palpable. The lady who took our order was not a people person. But, in all fairness she did have 2 different people bring food back and one of them, after waiting over 30 minutes while other orders came and went, finally went into a tirade and demanded his money back and the number for a manager. Our food was ok, typical Captain D's ... Cuisine. When they brought our food to the table I pointed out someone had dropped a large thing of ketchup on the floor. Thinking maybe she would clean it up before a guest slipped in it. Nope, not only did she leave it there then she ran through it tracking it all over the floor to go mop the bathrooms. Perhaps stopping there first would have been wiser? We did not have an enjoyable visit and we won't be back. There is far too many places to choose from to deal with that environment. Other then the ketchup incident the restaurant and bathrooms were clean. The price was typical for...

Update: I was willing to give this store another chance and wasted my time. This time I walked in to place my order and my presence was never acknowledged. I was there long enough to hear a kid in the kitchen tell a frontline member when she asked him where the rest of an order was, he grinned like a child and said "I ain't done it yet ". He went on to say that they've only been waiting for 22 minutes while another order had been waiting longer. The food isn't the problem here. It's the sorry staff!

The food was OK. Greasy, as expected. Online ordering is my complaint. I placed and paid for my $27 (2 dinners) order at 5:07 pm, and requested pick up at 5:30. I got there at 5:25 and was the second car in the drive through. At 5:40 they had just started my order. That's when I requested a refund if it was going to be much longer. At 5:50 I finally got my order. I won't make that mistake again. I'll go somewhere...
