Waffle House — Restaurant in Semmes

By far today was the worse experience with this location. Thanks to Tangie for her recovery effort. I walked into this restaurant and sat at the counter. Now I was the only person sitting at the counter. A black woman with long braids. You can't miss me. It was busy but there were at least 5-6 ladies working the floor. I sat directly in front of a short white lady with a blunt blonde Bob, doing dishes. No acknowledgement from her or anyone. No greeting even walking through the door. I sat for up too 10 minutes and started too leave but I said "no," I'm here now. Finally Tangie walked directly in front of where I was sitting and I stated to her, " is anyone taking my order today?" She was totally apologetic and thought someone had served me. She took, my order, gave me a complimentary coke. I'm sure she could tell that I was a little outdone and perturbed. Now, I'm a nurse case manager at a local hospital, whom gives great customer service everyday, I have too and love doing it, so I expect it back. Thanks to Tangie for serving me. Sweet and kind lady. Well, I'm a regular WH customer... only this time we tried a different one to dine at.. Everything was okay at first. Our waiter was enthusiastic and polite and she was new at her job. Apparently, her manager had a thing against black people. Not only did everyone dining there complain about how cold it was, but my 4 year old is anemic and started shaking really bad. We politely asked our waiters manager to turn the heat up a bit and she said she would. Even her arm hairs were standing up! Sadly, it only got colder and our waiter went to the back to see that her manager had turned the AC down more! Nothing was said directly to the manager but our waiter turned the heat up and we and everyone else were comfortable. In addition to the managers behavior, she insulted the older black police sheriff who asked for a fork with his food. She thought telling him " oh, well let him choke" was funny and insinuated that she was joking! No one... NO ONE, of the many races who were there that night, thought that was funny. I arrived at the restaurant at approximately 9:30 pm on January 1, 2022. My partner and I sat at the counter. there was atleast eight staff members present. Not one of them greeted us. we sat there for approximately 7 minutes Nobody gave us a menu or sad one word to us, even walked pass a couple of times. a white group of people walk in approximately 10 minutes after we had been sitting there unattended. they rush over to them with a greeting and menus and we still haven't been served or even acknowledged. At this point I ask for the manager. The Manager Debbie came out She was very pleasant and apologetic for her staffs behavior. She said it was due to shift change and attempted to get us service right away. I explained to her we don't want service anymore, I just wanted to make her aware of her staffs failure to provide decent and reasonable service and how unacceptable this is regardless of shift change. I wouldn't recommend eating at that location if you expect good service. I am truly disappointed that this type of behavior...
