Karaku Restaurant — Restaurant in Seymour

This place is almost hidden in Klarides Village shopping plaza (the small center just up 63 from Highway 8). It's been open about a month. When we went in on Friday night, about 6:30, they were empty. This made me very nervous. The place looks nice inside and the staff was friendly. However, within an hour they were pretty busy! We had a sashimi sampler and everything was first-rate. I know sushi and sashimi and I was mildly surprised. The dark, miso-like soup was very good. I had shrimp tempura and SO had chicken pad thai. Everything but the large amount of bland salad dressing piled on the house salad (where soup or salad comes with any entree), was very good. We will definitely go back. It is reasonably priced, as well. Their wine selection is fairly poor yet they seem to concentrate on cold and hot saki... I'm going to be a little more adventurous next time and see what they do with beef. I recommend you try this place and support a decent restaurant in Seymour! Well I was super excited to try a sushi place near my new house. But what a mistake! Looked online and saw some great photos of different dishes and decided to order a couple of them. So I am on the phone ordering and being specific and ordering as it is called on the menu and even asked about what was inside the dish. I waited 20 minutes to get my food only to go home and have something not right! Even though I asked on the phone about what was in it.. And go back for the lady to say no you did not order that even though I was specific about what it was called and what was inside of it. It only gets worse for here! She then wanted to charge me a $1.75 for there mistake. I've not only waited 20 minutes but then I get home to eat dinner and have to leave to go back and this what type of customer service you give. Enjoy the tip in your jar from when I picked it up could not ask for that to be refunded! Never would I ever even think to order from here or tell anyone else for...

This is my favorite asian fusion place. The food is always excellent. And so is the service. The food could be considered pricy, but the portion sizes are so big that I usually get two meals out of it. For the amount, the price is beyond fair. I have never had a bad experience, and I have never had bad food. The worst experience I had, was a day there was only one waitress for the entire restaurant, and she was still faster than most other restaurants. I couldn't recommend a better asian food...
