What a hidden gem. I discovered this place through a referral from an acquaintance. I called them yesterday evening to find out if they could accommodate an order for 6 and to learn their hours. During the conversation I was informed that I could give them my order and it would be ready for me upon pick up the next day. I gave them an order for 6 fish sandwiches, 6 orders of hush puppies, 6 cole slaw, and 6 fried green beens. I advised them I would be there at 11:45am for pick up. I arrived at 11:43 and they were packing my order as I walked in the door. What a pleasant surprise to see such excellent customer service. Fish Stand is my favorite fish place in south-central Indiana. But you gotta love it fried. I have had both the pollock and the cod; the pollock is tender and thin, while the codfish is quite thick but also fall-apart tender. Not a catfish fan but told by friends it's great, too. Ask about their breading options, my favorite is a corn meal-based mix from the local Marion-Kay spice company. Sides like their home-made coleslaw are very good, but they have a while side menu of fried stuff like mushrooms and green beans. These folks know how to deep fry, you know it before you're 100ft from the building....

I like how they allow you to choose from three different breading styles! The catfish on a bun special was a large portion and included fries, coleslaw, and hushpuppies for less than 10 bucks!! Fried oysters were great too! The dining area was pretty dirty including the floor. I would ask the kids that were working at the counter to sweep and clean up instead of just standing around doing nothing when it's not busy.
