This has been the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant or anywhere. My boyfriend as a surprise reserved a table at J Lui on 3/26 for my birthday, we got there and we ordered a bottle of wine and our food. When we got our food, the food was over cooked and when the general manager (Rita Gonzales) came and asked how everything came was, we did let her know the food was over cooked but my boyfriend expressed that it tasted great and we will still eat our food and continue with our meal. Couple minutes later our server Chris came to the table and asked if we needed anything else, we said no and my boyfriend and the server were having a pleasant conversation and laughing with what was said between them... a women from across the room then hushed us really loud, loud enough from across the room. The server was shocked as much as I and the general manager ( Rita Gonzales) came to the table was rude and talked down to us not even asking what happened she just closed a curtain and said that we were not allowed to have interaction with them. Keep in mind we were not the ones that interacted with them first. We were very frustrated at this point, we told her we were just waiting for our dessert and we will finish the drinks we ordered and we will call it a day. Rita Gonzales then left and a runner came to hand us my dessert in a to go bad . At this point I was very angry and Asked Rita why she brought the dessert in a bag, as if she was kicking us out she then said that the server Christ made that MISTAKE, her words, and that Chris was going to bring out a brownie as a surprise, I was confused as to why she would think that's is ok, I dont even like chocolate and it was not what I ordered, and they also failed to bring my son his ice cream. She was not apologetic at all she rolled her eyes and smirked at me and I told her this was horrible customer service and asked for her card. Rita said to me that she was the general manager so there was nothing I was able to do, I asked her again for her card and told her that she was not the owner and should not be treating customers the way she treated us. She then walked away and had the police escort us out with the lie that that we were too loud. We got number and names of customers around us that were as shocked as we were from the situation, and they were willing to help us with anything we needed as they thought this was unfair And told cops that we were not disrespectful. there was no arrest because we didn't do anything wrong.. speaking to the cop they were also saying it was unfair and provided their information if we needed further assistance in this matter. Rita Gonzales should not be working with customers if she is not capable of taking criticism about food that was not done well and she is not capable of handling situations in the right matter. We ended up spending about 200 dollars there even after everything that happened and to be honest I feel we should not had to pay for our interrupted meal by customers that are rude as well as the unpleasantness of Rita Gonzales, she ruined my birthday and there was a better way to handle the situation but Rita was incapable of doing so. This is a horrific memory that I will have as well as my son that was scared because of her. No matter the circumstance we will...
Read moreI'm writing this review in regards to one of your employees being very unprofessional. I understand that this weekend was in high demand being that it's Valentine's Day, which is why we made reservations for an early dinner. My mother, my pregnant sister along with myself decided to patron your restaurant since we like to try new places and this was all of our first time dining with you. The main reason we originally chose your restaurant was because of your online menu. However, once we were seated and received our menus, we were informed that due to high demand in reservations, the menu was limited to only certain items. It would have been nice to have that posted on your website. Anyways, our server Max was awesome in making sure we got our drinks and food in a timely manner despite how busy he was. As we finished our meals, even ordered dessert and was finishing up our bottle of wine that we purchased, the hostess, I didnt get her name...but she was a short older white woman with short dark hair who was seating the customers, came to our table and just kept staring at us. At first, I thought she was waiting for us to finish our conversation before asking how our meal and service was but she rudly asked us how much longer we were going to be because she had someone else wanting our table. I looked at her very puzzled because I was in shock that she would even have the nerve to approach us in that way and treat us like we didnt have a reservation and just paid just like everyone else did. Secondly, i wasn't aware we were being timed on how long it took us to eat and drink.I understand that restaurants get busy, but there was nothing on the reservation site that said we would be timed on how long we occupied our table.Furthermore, as we were leaving, there was only one couple waiting to be seated. The way she treated us, made my family feel very uneasy and honestly I felt like we were being singled out. She could've taken a better approach with the situation. Its not always what you say, but its how you say it. Needless to say, our first experience with your restaurant will most likely be our last due to her unprofessionalism and rudeness. I hope this complaint will get you to take action and train her on how to talk to paying customers. I would also suggest, that if you have different rules such as timed seating and menu options during special occasions, you would communicate that on your website so customers can know ahead of...
Read moreI visited this place hoping to host a my wedding and my first impression was so good especially with the reception employees who gave me the manager's card to contact get. Then it all stopped there. Rita the manager was so rude from the very first call when i informed her that my wedding will be in December (3 months from now) telling me "it's so late now to plan a wedding in December" before she even checked her calendar, in a very disrespectful tone made me feel like I'm stupid, even tho I've been planning for my wedding for 6 months now but only know about the place a day ago.
The next day i visited for a tour and she was even more rude, she only turned on the light for the second floor to see it and didn't even bother to actually guide me through the space. And when i asked her about a topic i asked her before over the phone she rudely responded "you asked me yesterday on the phone and i said no" then silent. Didn't even bother to ask me why or suggested any other solutions.
I had to ask about everything and every time she will answer in very short answers and a tone made me feel I'm so stupid to even ask.
I really liked the place and the reception employees, and was hoping to host the wedding there. but Rita the manager and her attitude made me completely change my mind and not even bother to try the food in the future as a customer.
I hope that the last at the reception will take over the management because she is way more professional she have high level of customer service that will definitely increase the rating of this place as i believe it...
