My daughter and I were in the area from out of town and excited to dine at First Watch for the first time in awhile. (You know, with chronic health issues, even before post covid long haul issues, and the associated financial downfall, but anyway..) they have NEVER disappointed!) Like I said, always amazing! As we entered, no one was ahead of us and we were noticed immediately by several female FOH staff members, yet not greeted or acknowledged, rather spoken about, audibly so. The same, only visible male, FOH staff member audibly informed the female staff of our arrival twice and they would not respond. None of them were busy, rather visiting and on their phones most of the time, with the exception of one (older, for the lack of better term, because she was older than the other servers, and work ethically dedicated, and also younger than me) female server who never stopped the entire time we were there. She spoke to us numerous times, possibly as much as our server did. But I'm getting ahead of myself. The aforementioned man actually seated us (presumably, since no one else would) and told us a server would be with us. To sum it all up, she had no sense of urgency, told us to let her know if we needed anything, including refills, yet never came back or made herself available to do anything for us throughout our entire experience. She and most of the staff stood right in front of us, clearly, using their phones and talking and never coming out to check on anyone. The one time she came back I let her know I hadn't even drank a cup of the coffee because it didn't taste right. She just said, "oh. Ok." I tried to talk to her about the gravy and she cut me off again. At that point I was done trying to bridge communication with my server. That's not my job, especially for a $30 breakfast which consisted of two orders of biscuits and gravy which contained about two teaspoons of gravy per order on two biscuits. It was actually shameful. It did taste good but the portion was absolutely laughable. Had I been at a decent four or five star restaurant, I would have gotten better portion per dollar then I received, with terrible service, at a terrible price. When I went to pay for our meal, (after leaving more tip than I should have, btw- I always tip at least 20 to 30%, even when it's bad because you never know what someone's going through), the same man who did everything by himself asked me how everything was. I told him, "The FOOD was good, but..." (emphasizing the food, trailing toward telling him about everything else) and he CUT ME OFF!! I tried again and he wasn't really listening. I was kind and left. At that point, why stay and beg for conversation. I will never return to that location again. I have nothing against the restaurant chain itself, but if it was an off day, it must have ever won in that location at the same time. Seems like a heck of a coincidence to me. Oh f! LOL! If anyone else has positive experiences to reply with, especially ones you've had on a regular basis, I would love to hear about them! I'm really not a negative Nancy or a Karen! Lol! I'm just a 40-something lady who worked the service industry for years, and did decades of customer service, so I wonder why it was so bad there. On my worst days, I would have never let anybody go through that. I don't expect anything from anybody else that I wouldn't expect from myself. I wish everyone well but I wanted them to know what a bad time it was for us, so maybe they can improve what's needed, if it hasn't been,...
Read moreThis is 1 star because that is lowest rating available. I called this morning to ask what app to use for putting self on list. I was told No Wait. There was only one app on play store which had blue lines resembling people. We put our name/# at 10:18 am &drove over. We had 10 people ahead. When we got there the hostess said she did not have us. I said what we had done on No Wait. Extremely rudely she said " I have no control over that,I only control this" as she pointed to her tablet & then was very dismissive as I'd she did not realize she was in the service industry. Did not get name but she had short blond pixie style hair. A guy who may have been a server said we used wrong app. He showed me a green round icon which would work. I could not find anywhere on play store. The point is there was a totally different way it could have been handled by your staff. A better explanation by your person on phone. The app we signed up with sent us a confirmation email on the no wait app we used so have no idea why that did not eork. We had a gift card for 1st Watch which we may never use now since we were treated so poorly & had a bad experience. BTW we left after giving name/# to hostess when thought it over....
Read moreLess than a sum of it's parts. Not my first visit, but it seems to keep missing the mark of excellence consistently. Service is competent, neither bad nor good. My server missed getting part of an order and a additional part had to be tracked down later. The sausage gravy was pretty bland, but at least not as bad as a MCL cafeteria. The seasoned potatoes weren't completely cooked and my toasted English muffin may have been through a toaster, but was soggy. On the plus side the restroom was spotless. On my walk through the restaurant other tables plates looked good with great presentation on them. Too bad presentation doesn't have flavor. So while it lacks the eclectic vibe of a place like starliner diner, it is definitely above a IHOP. I think clients I saw walking out best described what it is. A convenient place for a business meeting, where your focus isn't food, but getting something else done. The food, service, and atmosphere won't get in the...
