At first I absolutely loved working with Jan. However after my wedding I believe I have honestly changed my mind. I paid an upwards of $800 for my cake and the sabering. The issues first arose when I wasn't 100% sure what I wanted and figured the cake maker might have the ability to give me some direction. I was really a little put off when I was met with an almost condescending attitude I brushed it off and chalked it up to her just being older and expirenced and maybe it was just her sense of humor. I personally have thick skin so I really didn't mind. I chose a cake that was supposed to look like a tree cake She had made before. We tasted cakes that were really good and made our choices. We opted to add fake flowers to our cake and she asked me what type of flower they were, I had many types and seemed to be met with more of her condescending comments. I'm not good at flower names but she wasn't making them for me and I was able to describe them so idk what the issue was. once again I took this with a grain of salt. Coming up on my wedding day I texted (which she never responds to texts, only calls. which didn't seem to be an issue till later) just to provide the last of her payment and go over details, she asked me on the phone who would be adding the flowers to my cake, as if I'm not paying $800 and providing my own flowers for my cake. Which In my opinion is a little wild but whatever. I asked if she could do It and she confirmed. Then a few days later when I went to drop off her money she asked me again. Who would be decorating my cake. Like what? Then she tried to tell me we had discussed my father doing it which we 100% did not. once again the condescending tone and attitude. The same situation happened with the time of my wedding, once again I went to text, she called me we discussed and then later it's as if she forgot the entire conversation. Which was really frustrating. why call instead of texting if you aren't going to remember/take notes. Speaking of notes she mixed us up with another client at one of our appointments. granted she was moving homes so maybe it was just a mess because of the situation but still it's my wedding and it's unnerving. Then comes the actual wedding day. First of all my cake looks absolutely nothing like we thought. My flowers were not at all like we discussed. And the cake tasted not much like the ones we tried and loved. Also the cake was not on the cake stand we talked about either. So in essence the cake was just not right. She at my wedding interrupted me and my husband talking, and the sabering also was done earlier than discussed because the "grace period for sabering was getting close" once again just not being clear or paying attention to the times I had given her and then chastising my husband about it. NOW the sabering. first of all her "speech" was all over the place and felt so awkward, my photographer very kindly and enthusiastically asked her to try to count it down for her and once again she was rude and just kinda laughed and said something to the affect of "yeah right" like if it doesn't work the first time that's fine you were asked a kind and simple question and that was it. And for me that was kinda the last straw. You can be rude to me whatever but my other vendor? Who is so kind and sweet? No man. Not okay. If you have had a good experience with Jan that is amazing and I'm not saying don't try. But the entire time I was made to feel like stupid? Or a burden? Even though I was paying her good money. Photos of what I asked for vs what I got for proof also I provided the name as well. So flowers and sign were all me. All in all pretty dissatisfied not a terrible cake but a bad experience and not what I asked for I probably could've done this myself...

This place should be out of business already. Please do not trust them with your special day. Our consultation was amazing, and she sketched out a cake which was light blue, with sugar spun seaweed in a cage around the layers with bubbles and small fish.

There was a red flag when I got a call 3 days before the wedding, check to see that I wanted blue frosting. I am not an expert but 3 days for a cake that costs over 2k, with sugar ornamentation, should take longer to make.

Then comes the day off to start the cake should have been delivered around 12- which my grandfather stayed at the venue to receive. Missing other events. After frantic phones from myself, my sister and the caterer. The cake finally arrived at 6PM, my reception started at 6:30pm. They only delivered the cut cake and not the extra sheet cake for the additional 200 people at the wedding. When this error was pointed out they did return to the location and bring back another cake- frozen solid and then set it next to the cut cake. They later sent us an additional $700 bill for this cake. Even though an extra cake had been paid for on the original invoice.

This cake looks like a child's blue with sugar gum pieces glued on. It was not elegant at all!! I was devasted as this was one of our splurge items and I just asked the photographer to cut it out of all of our photos.

They also offered a service for someone to come and use a sword to cut off the top of our champagne bottle. Our wedding as a long dress and tuxes affair. The person who did this service showed up in a very wrinkled khaki pants and shirt.

update: I received a response from the baker, saying I must have muse have the wrong bakery. I have receipts and multiple witnesses that this is bakery we used. I agree with her assessment in her response that she should be out of business and not in her 44th year of business. The fact that she does not remember the cake and yet it is still a sore spot for my wedding is...

Stunning Wedding Cake - Exceeded Expectations!

We were fortunate to Jan Kish - La Petit Fleur create our wedding cake, and the experience was truly exceptional from start to finish. From our initial consultation to the last bite of cake, every detail was executed flawlessly.

Firstly, Jan took the time to understand our vision and theme. On the day of our wedding, we were in awe when we saw the cake—it was not only beautiful but we requested an intricate design, and so we appreciated how much time this took. The craftsmanship was impeccable, and every element was meticulously placed.

Now, let's talk about taste! The flavors were simply divine. We opted for different flavors for each tier, and each one was incredibly delicious. Every tier was just the right balance of sweetness, and cake's texture was perfect. Our guests could not stop raving about how incredible it looked and tasted.

Aside from the cake itself, working with Jan was a pleasure. She was responsive, kind, and accommodating throughout the entire process. She listened attentively to our requests and made sure everything was executed to perfection.

Our wedding cake was not just a dessert—it was a work of art that added a touch of magic to our special day. We are beyond grateful for Jan and her outstanding work and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a wedding cake that is both visually stunning and incredibly delicious.

Thank you Jan for all of your hard work and bringing a show stopping cake to our...

Jan Kish – La Petite Fleur created an absolutely breathtaking cake for our wedding, and the experience was nothing short of magical. The cake itself was stunning—elegant, romantic, and perfectly matched to our Parisian honeymoon theme, complete with a golden Eiffel Tower topper. And the 360 cupcakes that trailed beneath complemented the historic venue from the chandeliers to the ballroom floors. What made it truly unforgettable was the incredible personal touch: after we sabered our champagne bottle in true French tradition, Jan handed us the saber to cut the first slice of our cake. It was such a unique and heartfelt moment that we’ll cherish forever. Jan’s creativity, attention to detail, and ability to turn a vision into something even more extraordinary truly set her apart. If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind wedding cake experience that feels like a fairytale, I couldn’t recommend her more highly. Merci, Jan, for helping make our special day so unforgettable! 💖🍰🥂
