Chapala Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Sharon Township

I was extremely pleased by our experience at this restaurant! I feel like Mexican restaurants are all basically the same, so chapala was a breath of fresh air. Our server, Magda was so nice! She had a great attitude, didn't mind us asking to change seats (cold day and the door blasted us each time it was opened), gave great recommendations and excellent service!

I liked the salsa, it was pureed which I'm not usually fond of, but had a great flavor, with just enough onion and cilantro, and a very gentle heat. The queso was good, but when mixed with the salsa got a lot better. My quasi vegetarian daughter got the nachos, subbing black beans for the meat... at Magda's recommendation. It was very good. By the time we were done it was soggy unfortunately, but they are nachos with queso so that's unavoidable.

The star of the show for me were the chimichangas. I don't tend to get beef in mine since it's usually either chunks of beef or ground beef. Chapala's are actually made with shredded beef so I decided to try a chicken and a beef. The chicken was very good and I was very happy with it. Then I tried the beef and was blown away! Though it wasn't as crispy as some I have had. The beef had such an excellent flavor! I didn't get any gristle or chunks of fat. Just really well roasted shredded beef. The surprise was the rice which I almost never eat at a Mexican place. I think I ate half of that before I even ate any of the chimichangas! Just an excellent visit. ...

I didnt like the service waitress spilled my drink on the way to my table, waitress gave me dirty silverware twice, did not leave a tip after that of course.....used my debit card. It was charged my correct amount on 7/30/2022, but the next day which was 7/31/2022 the waitress which she told me her name was Gabriella but that next day spoke with manager and he told me she took her own tip out (which is illegal) he didnt believe me that I had my receipt (unprofessional) and agrued with a paying customer tried to offer me a gift card after telling me he couldn't give me a refund. He rather give me a gift card and I asked multiple times for a refund but after that I told him I was going to take it to legal matters if I didn't get my refund then he gave me a refund through picture mail with confirmation on his personal cellphone and i also saw it was a whole different employer that wasn't even my waitress on the conformation receipt just terrible that resturant they steal and i wouldnt recommend that place to my dog...

Saturday night dinner around 7PM for 2 people with no reservation. We were sat immediately and greeted promptly. We had fresh guac and chips and salsa to start. The guac was a chunky style with a good amount of tomatoes. The guac was really flavorful but the texture was different. I had the enchiladas supremas and the other person had al pastor tacos. The meat from the al pastor was diced nicely and tasted on par with other al pastors. The reason I am disappointed is the chili relleno. It was sad. It was simply a steamed chili with shredded chicken inside and a rojo salsa on top - and absolutely no cheese inside of the chili. The chicken was good, but I almost felt like I got hustled for $6. I've had some amazing and nt so good chili rellenos. Unfortunately, this may have been one of the worst ones I've ever. I had pretty high expectations for this place, but the food was lackluster.
