I can't believe I've lived in Cincinnati for almost 7 years now and have never been to The Root Beer Stand! Made the trek over to try it for the first time today on their last day of the season. I ordered a footlong chili/cheese coney, a bag of chips, and a root beer float. Total was a little over $11. I've never been a huge fan of coneys but decided to give theirs a try and really enjoyed it! It's messy though so make sure you have napkins handy. The root beer float was super yummy too. I'm wishing I would have ordered some of the root beer to take home. I arrived a little before 11am (when they open) and there was already several cars in the parking lot waiting for them to open. Once in line, it moved super fast and I got my order within 5 minutes. Plenty of parking and outdoor picnic tables to eat at. They also have a small bar area for full service dining and a playground for kids to play at. Definently a spot I will visit again once they open back up next season! EDIT: A year later and I still love coming here for the food however the bee situation is absolutely ridiculous when the weather is warm. It's not enjoyable to be attacked by a bunch of bees when you are trying to eat your food. I took my dad for lunch today and we ran into another group and they said "you getting attacked too? We just decided to eat in our car." My dad and I ended up just taking our food to go and found somewhere else to eat at. They need to spray bee repellent around the property.

Atmosphere and ambiance reign superior in this throwback diner. The root beer float was very good! None of us liked the chili dog. It tasted like spaghetti sauce - NOT chili or Cincinnati style chili. Not a fan whatsoever! SOO glad they don't do crinkle cut fries. Their fries are pretty good actually. I'd get them again. The best thing we had was the double bacon cheeseburger; very good for $6 ish The frozen treats are pretty good too, but the cookie dough blizzie tasted fruity / banana esque. Pretty off putting for a cookie dough ice cream. Bees - lots of them, but they're trying to keep them at bay. It's not really working and we were overrun. Would I go back? Certainly, but only for the cheeseburger and root beer float.

My wife is from Sharonville and warned me about this place and I thought she was a hater. I know the Root Beer stand is a Sharonville Treasure, and I think any local treasure needs to last forever. They are the glue and community center of any populace.

Let me say this, I love root beer stands and I have been to many of them across the Midwest since I am from Cincinnati. I love the food from dairy bars and Catholic festivals so I this kind of food from many different points of view is my jam. Love it.

I had been wanting to try the Sharonville Root Beer stand for years. A month ago, I tried it. I ordered a footlong chili dog and cheeseburger.

The chili on the footlong tasted bland and from a can, and cheese on the burger tasted low quality and the burger tasted freezer burned. Shortly after, I started having a tummy ache and I stopped eating and threw the rest of the food away. I have never had food from any root beer stand this bad.

I am never going back there again, and my wife was right all along.

Here is how you fix it:

  1. Take as much of ground beef for the day and mix it with any generic Cincinnati spice mix on a Krogers shelf with canned tomatoes and cook following directions. Adjust ingredients to match daily or weekly volume.

  2. Date all your hamburger patties in the freezer and use zip lock bags while in storage. When out to cook, season according to taste.

Since cheese is an expensive item, I suggest using government cheese, which is actually nicely proceesed cheese, heck any or above quaility, and cook and store to presribed guidelines and you will do just fine.

There. ...

This root beer stand was on our summer checklist. Unfortunately it did not live up to the hype. We've driven past this place for years. The parking lot is always full. Today was the day we decided to go. We got a footlong, fries, root beer and a flavor burst ice cream. On a scale of 1 to 5 (5 being the highest) our overall food experience was a 1.5 🥺Footlong=1.0 If you like gray hot dogs go for it. Bun was fresh, good amount of cheese. But the hot dog was gross. The texture was mushy too. My stomach turns just thinking about it. We didn't even finish eating it! Fries=1.0 They were flavored but the sign showed crinkle cut. These were not. They had been sitting for a while too. Overly salty, did not finish eating them. Root Beer= 1.0 This is what I was MOST excited for! Huge disappointment. No flavor at all. It was like drinking dark sugar water. Yuck! The saddest root beer I have ever had in my life. Ice cream w/ flavor burst= 2.0 My daughter liked the ice cream but it had barely any flavor burst on the edges. Not like the pictures showed! You literally couldn't tell it was there visually. My daughter said it had some flavor but not much. So flavor burst was a bust. She did finish her cone.

Overall, this was the saddest little summer stop we've made in a long time. Friendly staff working there but we won't be back. They won't miss us either, there are plenty of people waiting in line to get what they offer.😂Smh!! But spending money on food we ended up throwing away is not ok. In our opinion if you want a good root beer from a stand like that go to Jolly's in Hamilton, OH. Route 4. Their root beer continues to...
