Located on the East side of Mound just before it turns into Auburn Road this recently renovated pub is a hot spot to meet up, have fun and enjoy delicious food and great drinks.
Mom is 86 now so we eat out earlier and earlier, lol. We braved the disgusting traffic on Van Dyke and made our way here on a Monday early eve. at 5:00pm. She had never been here before but I meet my friends here for drinks every now and then. Last time I was here my friend treated me to onion soup and potato skins; it was so delicious I just had to take mom here for a drink and meal. There is plenty of parking on the sides and in the back.
The place is spotless! There is a plenty to do with pool tables, lottery tickets, pull-tabs, large screen tv's, claw machines and more. I even noticed that some of the tables had decks of cards along with pen and paper.
You can sit at the bar on a stool, at a table top or at a booth. Mom requires booth sitting so that 's were we parked ourselves. Mom opted for the beef nachos with an upcharge for a side of guacamole and a coke. I tried the Sheppard's pie and had a glass of sauvignon blanc. I could have had house wine, a wide selection of beer and mixed drinks but I opted for my go to drink.
Mom's beef nacho's were plentiful and delicious. My Sheppard's pie was OK. The ground meat in the pie was very tasty but I expected mashed potato's on top not big chunks of cut potato's. I think the cheese on top was a bit overpowering but overall it was served nice and hot and I enjoyed eating it.
The service as always...
Read moreWent here today with a friend of mine and we tried the steak bites and let me tell you. They were on point. Absolutely delicious. Served with fresh bread and au jous. Perfect appetizer. I'll say first that I'm very picky about corned beef. It has to be real corned beef and of course have a great taste and seasoned properly. I gave the corned beef sandwich a try and let me tell you I was blown away. Not only was it real and fresh corned beef. It was seasoned perfectly I got it with Swiss cheese coleslaw and the thousand Island dressing and I was really absolutely surprised that the rye bread was grilled without asking them to do it. My friend got the burger with an egg on it and he loved it. We will absolutely be back our waitress was very very good and we both had a beer and it was ice cold can't ask for more than that. Both of us will definitely be back and spread the word to all of our friends. A hidden gem is an understatement the bar was very friendly inviting and I can tell that they also have live music because they had a stage not a big one but perfect size plenty of seating plenty of parking really set up well It's not a huge place but it's not small either It's just right. Family friendly too. Thank you again Kay Jay's Irish...
Read moreIt's nice to see that new venues are allowing bands, but obviously this restaurant does not understand the "following of bands and live music." When we're talking to the manager about how things are laid out for a band, dance floor etc. the manager then comes back and says well we're driven by the strength of people who are coming in to eat! Well. That's the wrong thing to say for people that come in to not only eat but to be entertained with the band that you have. So a better choice of words would be. We are learning and we will start catering to the crowds that come in for the bands because when you say things like we cater to people that eat food in our restaurant. You're going to push bands and also the people that follow them away. Bottom line, your prices are great. There's no problem with the prices for drinks and or food. The service was great but train your managers a little bit better. If this is a new thing that you're doing with bands, then listen to people that have been around. As a business owner, myself outside help is...
