Leo's Coney Island — Restaurant in Shelby Charter Township

Leo's has always been a favorite of mine, so stopping in for lunch was a no brainer. The restaurant wasn't busy, so I wouldn't expect any delays or issues to arise. Our server, an elderly lady stopped by and asked for our drink orders. My son had asked what sodas were available. This server made him repeat the question 4 times. Not because she couldn't hear him, but because she didn't like how he asked the question. It was obvious that she didn't understand or like the word SODA. She scolded him by saying the word is "POP". REALLY?? When she came back to take our food order, I asked for a Hamburger and Coney Fries, but I wanted to have the chili topping on the side. She said that they can't do that. WTH? Then she went off saying that it's not "coney fries" if the chili is on the side. WHAT? I told her that I always order coney fries and have the chili separated when ordering this at Leo's. She argued with me about it and when I told her to forget the fries, she finally said she would get it for me (chili on the side). Talk about feeling uncomfortable. My son ordered a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and when she brought our food, it was a Buffalo Chicken Pita. I told her that he ordered the SANDWICH, not the PITA. Price difference between the two, but that wasn't an issue...then. She, again, argued with me... now it was about the sandwich. She told me that because "other people" order Buffalo Chicken Pitas, she thought it would be okay to give him that. NOOO.. That isn't what he ordered. So, she finally took it back for the exchange. Now, came time to pay. She gave me the check with the total price of our order. (No description, just the price of the order). When I went to pay, another gal came over to the register. Our server had been cashiering for every customer, but she wouldn't ring me out. When the other lady took my check, I saw the entire order listed on the screen and our waitress NEVER removed the more expensive Buffalo Chicken Pita from the bill. My son got the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and I expected to pay the sandwich price. After a long discussion with the cashier about our awful server, she removed the entire charge for the sandwich. So disappointed with this type of service from a server. I always have excellent experiences at any of the Leo's, but this was the worst server, ever. Combative, unfriendly, conniving. Needless to say, I won't ever step into the Leo's at Hayes Rd in Shelby Township ever again. So many better...

Went for the Polish dinner on August 24. The place was not crowded, but we waited forever for a waitress. We were considering leaving. One was in a booth near the restrooms filling salt and pepper, two others were socializing at the front counter. The cashier finally came and took our doing order and said our waitress would be here soon to take our order. She ended up being the one filling the salt and pepper. We were seated right next to the cashier counter and the hostess and one of the waitress' were having a social conversation. The waitress was very immature and talking about how she was flunking out of math in high school and how the cook ripped her nail off and it hurt so bad that she thought she lost her finger. Meanwhile, my husband and I are trying to eat. We couldn't have a conversation because their conversation was right at my back about 10 inches from me. We were looking for a manager, but not to be found. When we left, we noticed the manager with her red shirt on and blond hair outside the back of the restaurant on her cell phone and another waitress was back there also, having a smoke and on her cell phone as well. We have started going to...

For the last 6 orders there was at least one food item missing or made incorrectly. The last time it happened I called and the lady said I ordered incorrectly, before looking at what I ordered. When I insisted she look at the order before assuming the error was on my end, she saw they indeed made a mistake and shorted me an entire meal. I told her this happens often. I was hoping for at least an apology. She said she’d have the missing food made and hung on me as I was asking a question. I needed to go pick it up defeating the entire reason of having it delivered. She was very rude through the entire interaction both on the phone and in person. I asked to speak to manager when I arrived to make them aware of the issues and she said no one was there on Sundays. My family use to go to this location often and we won’t be returning. We even ordered Thanksgiving Meal Take home package, which we won’t be doing again either. It’s just very disappointing. We use to enjoy going there so much. Not sure if there is new management or a few...
