Original Zomato Review 4/7/15 - THERE'S SO MUCH TO TALK ABOUT HERE.... Visited 4/7/2015 - as with any stop at a new barbecue joint, I stick with the mainstay, the pulled (or chopped) pork platter. Today's sides were fries and cole slaw (additional garnished items onions, pickles, jalapenos, and cornbread muffin) and sweet tea to drink.
The pulled pork was sauced up (too much) and mushy--it reminded me of the frozen pork barbecue my wife sometimes buys. Fries were steak fries style and cold. The slaw was mayo-based, not bad, but not a lot of zing. I recommend adding a splash of vinegar to help it a bit. The muffin was cold and tough (I know this sound stupid, but I've never had cornbread that was tough either, but it's the best way to describe it). The sweet tea was excellent.
I didn't see anyone in the kitchen prepping or cooking, so it leads me to believe that the food came off the foodservice supply truck and merely warmed for service. I've eaten Texas barbecue...and...
Read moreI have been coming to this place for many years when it was owned by a retired State trooper from Texas and for the first time I have to say it was disappointing. My wife orders the chopped pork and they gave her pulled pork which in the world of smoked meats is two separate things. I questioned it as the girl behind the counter started to put it on the bun and she said it's the same thing, I pointed out that is not the case as one is pulled the other is chopped. This is the first time we have been served pulled pork and not chopped pork since we have been going here. Not sure what happened since we have been gone for almost a year, but I can say that we will not be going back as much because that was my wife's favorite sandwich and it seems to have been changed to pulled pork with sauce on it now, but the menu still says chopped pork so I would assume new menus will be out soon because it is very misleading. Other than that the place has...
Read moreWe were the only customers. The staff wasn't rude, but certainly weren't inviting. The ribs were dry, but after dude put em on my plate, he refilled the holding container with water which sizzled because it had run out of water (probably why the ribs were warm instead of hot and dry). My co-customer got the beef chopped bbq, which he described as jerky.
Everything appeared to be precooked and served immediately, sort of deli-style. The food wasn't gross, just not very good. The sides (beans, slaw, etc) were decent--like you'd expect from any deli. The trash cans were so full that we had trouble emptying our trays. There was food on our table (crumbs from a recent meal, but a lot of grime too) and there was food and boot mud in the floors. The tv said "service not available, please restart" and there was no music or ambient noise. Just silence.
So...in our experience, not very clean, not very good, not...
